Teach an old guy new tricks.

by Ken Jones

I am interested in getting involved in Linux Open Source development. I am a seventy year old retiree. I started programming on the AN/FSQ7 at MIT's Lincoln Laboratory in 1957. (If you read "Computing in the Middle Ages" by Severo Ornstein, I was there.) I finished by professional work life as a Senior Software Engineer at CISCO Systems in 2003. I miss the problem solving and the camaraderie of the work place. I wonder whether I can contribute to the development of Linux. How do I start? Ken Jones

by Tom Misilo

I was wondering if anybody knew how I could convert a .ppt Power Point File into a Movie file (such as .avi .mpg or such) so that it could be put onto a DVD or VCD Thanks, Tom Misilo -- Tom Misilo Saint Bernard's High School '06

This room is located on the first floor of Morgan Hall. You can find more detailed directions on the WLUG home page at http://www.wlug.org, click on "WLUG Meetings" near the top of the page, and then scroll down to the bottom and click the "Directions" link. I am conscious of the fact that the weather may be inclement. Use your own good judgement - if the weather outside is frightful (but the air is so delightful), don't do anything foolish. Any potential cancellation email would have to be sent out by 4 PM at the latest, so please check your email boxes on Thursday. Later, Andy *I need to say USA since there is a Worcester, England, and once upon a time someone thought we were in the UK since I didn't explicitly say USA. Ahhh, the wonders of a world wide medium. :-) -- Andy Stewart, Founder Worcester Linux Users' Group Worcester, MA USA http://www.wlug.org

I'll be going all 3 days. BTW, if you plan on going Wednesday, the Boston Linux User Group, at: http://www.blu.org/ is scheduling a LinuxWorld "bull session" at MIT from 7pm to 9pm. Might be worth it to exchange ideas. It's a short walk from the Hynes.
