Signing a driver for UEFI in Debian

by Richard Klein

I'm trying to build Droidcam. Part of the install process wants to sign a driver: "Secure Boot is enabled, attempting to sign the driver please specify signing key location (or leave empty to sign manually later) You can Google 'secure boot' for your distro Enter the path of the public key:" Googling didn't show me a clear answer. Does anyone know what path it's looking for? -- Rich

Tim> The Pi4 people announced an 8GB version for $75! That's enough Tim> ram you could run a chrome tab or two! Certainly looks interesting, but I think I'd be happier even the smaller versions. I was looking at this sucker as a possibly way to have a home compute lab for playing around more with ansible, docker, etc. https://turingpi.com/ But it would cost probably $400 for a basic setup...

Re: Creating Hotspot and Fedora 32

by joshua.gage.stone＠gmail.com

John, It's possible that Fedora's move to iptables-nft broke the hotspot functionality. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/iptables-nft-default Here are the commands I ran to open up the firewall on my laptop: # firewall-cmd --permanent --add-masquerade # firewall-cmd --permanent --add-service=dhcp # firewall-cmd --reload And to confirm that the changes went through: # firewall-cmd --list-all FedoraWorkstation (active) target: default icmp-block-inversion: no interfaces: enp0s31f6 wlp3s0 sources: services: dhcp dhcpv6-client samba-client ssh ports: 1025-65535/udp 1025-65535/tcp protocols: masquerade: yes forward-ports: source-ports: icmp-blocks: rich rules: This allows my phone to connect to my laptop and browse the internet normally without having to disable the firewall entirely. I hope that helps! Josh On Tue, 2020-05-19 at 05:09 -0400, Dennis Payne via WLUG wrote: > On Sun, 2020-05-03 at 20:18 -0400, John Stoffel wrote: > > What does 'dmesg' say when you do this? Manjaro - Caffeine Question

by hammerron

I'm looking a bit at Manjaro 20.0, with Gnome, and when I first ran, saw in the top right (system tray?) a coffee cup symbol. I believe that this means that the Caffeine-ng program might have been running. I have not seen the coffee cup symbol since. I tried to click on the Caffeine icon, and also the Caffeine Preferences icon, but seems like nothing happened. I tried searching the Manjaro forums and have not found a solution. Any thoughts? (Sent it to the WLUG, maybe Forrest or another Manjaro user will see it ) Ron

Re: [EXT] RDP into Win10 with Remmina

by Joshua Stone

Oh sorry, I mixed up xrdp and xfreerdp. I meant to say that I've had good experiences with xfreerdp at work. I think what confused me was that the syntax in FreeRDP 2.x differs from FreeRDP 1.0.x which we use in CentOS 7. xrdp is just an RDP server implementation that advertises good compatibility with FreeRDP (in fact is based on it). -Josh On Wed, 2020-04-29 at 19:33 -0400, Richard Klein wrote: > Is xfreerdp different than xrdp, or are those the same thing? > xfreerdp is what I used all day today, and it was pretty good, aside > from the slow VPN I'm working through.
