I've never had problems with grub accessing a usb keyboard, as long as the 'enable usb legacy devices' or similar was active in the bios. As has been mentioned, I don't think you will need the mouse. BestBuy will accept up to 3 e;lectronics items/small appliances per day from consumers, at no charge. Except for tv's and monitors, for which you must pay $10, but receive a $10. BestBuy card in return. Also, no refrigerators or air conditioners or tv's over 37" (?). Anyhow, they have rules, but it is convenient if you can't get an appointment at Balard Street with the city. I don't have a good space for hosting, but can we use one of the many fine parks in Worcester? Thats the way we rolled in Joisey. As for my USB Keyboard, the BIOS had a switch to turn on USB Keyboards and the Mouse (though I never needed the mouse for grub). Thanks for the help! Ted

The first place I would look is whether or not I could access the BIOS configuration. If the BIOS does not respond to the USB keyboard, I would nor expect something as low level as GRUB to access the keyboard. I have not loked at the source of GRUB, but something as small as grub would have to use a standardized interface. In my mind, that leaves ISA hardware standards or standard BIOS calls. Grub *should* recognize it. Worcester recycles ewaste. The recycling center was on Rt146 north last time I checked. It costs money, something in the realm of $10 for a computer and they like you to make an appointment. Grub and E-Waste

Two somewhat related questions. I went to a USB keyboard after my PS keyboard broke. I am running Ubuntu 10.04. How do I get GRUB to recognize the keyboard? Second, where do I get rid of the broken keyboard? Does Worcester have an E-Waste recycling center? Thanks. Ted

Converting VSAM files

Hi: I have a project in which I need to migrate some data stored in VSAM files to a relational database (mssql). I am wondering if anyone has had experience with extracting data from a VSAM file to a flat file. If so what tools would you recommend to make this happen. tia, Mike
