WPI, er, Microsoft filed this in my junk-mail, FYI. If there are others here who might be interested in a DevOps book free-for-24-hours and you didn't see Eric's email, check your junk-folder. --MCV. On 3/24/20 1:49 PM, Eric Martin via WLUG wrote:

But Steam is giving away Tomb Raider (2013). Read work related book or play good video game? On Wed, 2020-03-25 at 13:11 -0400, Michael Voorhis via WLUG wrote:

Since we're talking about free books, I've gotten endless amounts of use out of the "git flow" book which you can find free everywhere. I bought mine here: https://leanpub.com/git-flow You can kick the guy as little or as much as you want. Tim. On Wed, Mar 25, 2020 at 5:15 PM Dennis Payne via WLUG <wlug@lists.wlug.org> wrote:

I never read the book though I’ve read his blog posts and found an immense amount of utility from. I’ll have to pick that up.

Where I've used it is in teaching people who've never done any type of SCM as a group how to structure a project and how the branch / merge model should work and how to resolve merge conflicts, etc. I can't say I've read it cover to cover, but I've read chapters and used it as a reference a whole lot. There's another excellent book that costs nothing on amazon called "Ry's Git" which is a really thin to the point book about git. However, he's got a great chapter on the inner workings of git which I found both fascinating and educational. I still feel bad for the monotone guy... Too damn many TLAs! [1] To me, SCM means Scheme. For example: poly.scm is a program I wrote: http://www.free-comp-shop.com/poly.html while SCM is a implementation by Aubrey Jaffar. I guessed that's not what Tim meant, so I went searching: Google says it stands for Supply Chain Managment, closer but probably not right. Wikipedia has about 20 other meanings including: Student Chrisian Movement -- Nope SubCarrier Multiplexing -- Probable not (Software Configuration | Source Control) Management -- Yes, one of those Which one? If they are different. No matter. How could I know? Why should I care? -- Keith [1] TLA - Three Letter Acronym
SCM = Smith-Corona Marchant On Thu, Mar 26, 2020 at 3:59 PM Keith Wright via WLUG <wlug@lists.wlug.org> wrote:

I'm convinced they've writing a piece of perl that simply goes through their documentation and when it finds a three letter word simply uppercase's it. On Thu, Mar 26, 2020 at 4:07 PM Michael Voorhis via WLUG < wlug@lists.wlug.org> wrote:
