(hey man, long time no see!) Bringing keyboards sounds like an interesting idea. What would everyone think about showing off their keyboards as a meeting topic? On Tue, Jun 20, 2023 at 8:35 AM Jeff Moyer <jmoyer@redhat.com> wrote:

My primary mechanical keyboard that I've been using for a while is starting to go a little flakey on me, even after a few rounds of cleaning, so I'm looking to finally replace it. I'm looking for something:
- With fully mechanical keys (replaceable switches would be a nice bonus) - Ergonomic layout, which these days seems to primarily mean a split design - Illuminated keycaps would be preferred
Anyone have good recommendations they can share?
I've tried the microsoft sculpt, split keyboards including the kinesis freestyle and the ultimate hacking keyboard, and the kinesis advantage (and the older classic). The kinesis advantage/classic is by far the best for me--nothing else even comes close. I've been using that keyboard for at least the past 15 years.
Keyboards are a personal decision, though. I have a couple you could try out if you want to borrow them--the kinesis classic (ps2 connector required) and the kinesis freestyle, with the tenting accessory (for vertical typing).
Good luck with your hunt!
