I've tried the microsoft sculpt, split keyboards including the kinesis
freestyle and the ultimate hacking keyboard, and the kinesis advantage
(and the older classic). The kinesis advantage/classic is by far the
best for me--nothing else even comes close. I've been using that
keyboard for at least the past 15 years.
Keyboards are a personal decision, though. I have a couple you could
try out if you want to borrow them--the kinesis classic (ps2 connector
required) and the kinesis freestyle, with the tenting accessory (for
vertical typing).
