The first time WLUG had a jitsi meeting, I searched for it
and found a Debian package that I thought I had to install.
I dinna wanna.
I don't know what the package is for, but somebody on this list
said that it should work just to put the link into a browser,
so I plan to try it tonight. I'll reoort back to this list.
I have never used the camara or microphone on this laptop,
I don't know if I have used used sound output, it was long
ago and might have been a different machine,
Is video chat built into the browser now?
What exactly does Zoom or jit.si do then?
And what's in that Debian jit.si package?

Hey Everybody,
We've got a virtual wlug meeting on Thursday October 15th, 2020!
Time: 7pm
Date: Oct 15th, 2020
Location: https://meet.jit.si/WlugMA
Topic: As usual TBD. I will show off my CNC machine and where I'm at with
it, but besides that, I expect the usual level of banter.
Hope to see some familiar faces and new ones as well!
Later,
Tim.

Hey Everybody, let's try this again!
I have a conflict on the 8th and the second week of October snuck up on me.
We will be having the meeting *October 15th, 2020!*
Sorry for any confusion the last confusing email created!
Thanks,
TIm.

Hey Everybody,
I've decided to push the meeting off to the 8th. This is mainly because the
second week of October snuck up on me and because I have conflict that
night.
Hopefully by then I'll have a little project I've been working on ready to
show off.
Later,
Tim.

What a handful of information in two emails. Thank you very much.
Well a lot to check and learn. In any case, I am preparing myself for the
RHCSA exam this December. The more Linux staff the better it is for me.
Respectfully,

Mher,
Another way you can "sharpen your skills" is to check out the objectives of
the Linux Professional Institute's LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 tests (lpi.org).
https://www.lpi.org/our-certifications/lpic-1-overviewhttps://www.lpi.org/our-certifications/lpic-2-overview
Although we do list training partners and offer some training materials, we
do not do training ourselves, only certifications. We have 180,000
certified people in over 180 countries.
If you look through our objectives for each level and you can honestly say
that you can do each objective, then you have the skills that many
companies want. If you get to some of the objectives and say "I do not
know how to do that", then you can spend some of your time looking it up
and practicing so when you go for that interview and are asked about it you
can tell them with confidence that you can do it.
For full disclosure, I am the Board Chair of LPI.
Good luck in your job hunt.

Hello Mher,
Perhaps you can start here to look for a Linux sysadmin position. If you want to do a wider search, perhaps this is more helpful.
If you want to take advantage of your time at home here is where you can strengthen your skills.
Hope this helps,Al Butler
