Hello All, I have a SunPCi II (model #: X2131A) board with memory and Sun PCi II 2.2.1 software for 20.00. I can bring it to next week's meeting, if anyone is interested. Portable MP3 (and ogg) players and Linux

My preferences would be: - - flash, not hard drive, based - - standard batteries (AA,AAA, etc) - - works reasonably well with Linux - - plays ogg (nice but not necessary - aren't the files smaller than mp3) - - plays mp3 I currently have a perfectly functional RioVolt 250 and my only complaint is that it is quite bulky relative to what is available today. I was considering some of the offerings by iRiver, as there seems to be some support by the Linux community. Does anybody own an iRiver flash based player, and what is your experience with it? Does anybody have other recommendations in this area? Maybe we should make this the topic of a meeting??? OK....wont be till thursday or friday that I can pick this up. Can you confirm this comes with the monitor? Also, do you know if this takes ECC memory? It doesn't seem that you got my response. It is the tower version, not the pizza box: http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/Example/component.front_zoom.h… I don't remember if it has an OS on there, but you can download various Linux distros or Sun Solaris for free to install. The 450 is a refrigerator sized box: http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/E450/E450.html This is a standalone unit with the side panels and wheels. There is no rack and no rack mount kit with it. It plugs in using a single standard PC-style IEC electrical cord, but has redundant power supplies. You can pick this up during business hours 9am-5pm at the Network Operations Center, WPI Morgan Hall/Lower Wedge, next to the Access Grid where we hold the WLUG meetings. We can only take cash. Howdy! We covered a few topics tonight, including this one: http://news.com.com/2008-1082_3-5065859.html?tag=lh and this one: http://www.justlinux.com/forum/showthread.php?t=141352 And more discussions about gentoo vs (insert distro here). We covered some iPod things, and maybe helped someone with a perl script. I showed off my little Dell L700 laptop and enlightenment desktop manager...very lightweight and has nice eye candy, but no icons. Lots of discussions around Intel and AMD as well...hopefully we will see that pdf regarding the lawsuit...
