Debian Squeeze is very nice. Everything Works. The spacefun wallpaper & splash screen is pretty goofy, but they're easily replacable, & easily forgotten. I custom-install Firefox on all my Debian installations. Also note: I did not install KDE on my latest Squeeze, since I didn't want KDE4. Have xfce & KDE-trinity as choices of graphical environments. Hi Tim, As you might remember, I attended several WLUG meetings when they were virtual. I read a recent email that led me to believe there is still a way for me t attend virtually. Is that true? If so. I will try attend some future meetings. Also, here is question that maybe you or someone in WLUG can help me with. My computer runs (for now, don't ask why) Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. A financial institution says I must run a virus scan very soon. I installed clamav and then ran freshclam. As far as I can tell, freshclam has been running for 15 hours, and is still running. Andy, Did you guys set up WEP? I know it's "encryption-lite" but right now I've only my wlan setup with mac address locking only because I can't get wep to work at all. I actually had less trouble setting up wireless in linux than in windows! Speaking of "target practice," did any of you see that iMAC ad on e-reviews? The guy was at a target range, discussing the first iMAC and after saying how each feature was "not enough" he aimed and shot at it! Having dealt with first revision iMACS, I don't think I've ever laughed so hard! how far into the gentoo install can you get? Is the last step the long process? I can volunteer a fast machine if we could get most of the way thru at the meeting and I can just kill it at the end. Or is every step along the way very time consuming? I use Plex and would love to learn more about it, and about similar things, such as Kodi. I'm also interested in Bitcoin, though, mostly, I want a way to recover the Bitcoin wallet I created (and lost all info for) a couple years ago. However, I realized at the time of the last meeting, that Thursday nights are also open shop night at Worcester Earn-a-bike, which creates a conflict for me. A nice map of campus (with buildings unlabeled) is covered by a pop up, which tells you when Harrington was built and what ball teams like it.
