I hope some of us can come in for the physical meeting! I'm looking forward to meeting some folks and going out for food afterward like we usually do. - Josh On Thu, May 12, 2022 at 3:43 PM John Stoffel <john(a)stoffel.org> wrote: > >>>>> "Kevin" == Kevin Stratton via WLUG <wlug(a)lists.wlug.org> writes: > > Kevin> Does anyone want to speculate how this might affect > Kevin> heterogeneous computing ? (virtual BostonLinux BLU Wed Aug16 6:30-9pm?) AlmaLinux OS

by Doug Mildram

Decades (199x-2010) before I found wlug/WPI/you!, I'd (rarely..road wimp, became too lazy,etc..) go to MIT/Cambridge for geek-meetings that a UNIX SysAdmin --> linux-lover might enjoy. I stopped attending their meetings decades ago, but I kept listening quietly to the "discuss" (primary email thread/list of BLU) that I think it morphed into: Boston Linux and Unix http://www.blu.org (trivia: "Announce" includes "Discuss" list, which I get in digest, so a dozen+week becomes sm handful per week. TMI,but see also http://www.blu.org/about_blu/ for a hint at BLU history + leaders. HEAR YE and cool/modern format(s): BLU Meetings, at least some like THIS WEEK's, allow you to --- ATTEND and be yourself? LIVE, with Jitsi, see below, or --- PEEP apparently live and/or later ? with YouTube Live Stream, also below. So this month/week's topic would be new-to-me! Almost-too-timely if you're into Enterprise/RedHat, it seems. Comments and corrections welcome in advance about Alma, or BLU... I know a couple of you (Chuck and who else?) listen(ed) to BLU/discuss! -doug EMAIL ANNOUNCEMENT via "discuss" list: Tue, 15 Aug 2023 From: Jerry Feldman via Announce <announce(a)lists.blu.org> To: BLU Announce <announce(a)blu.org> Cc: Greater New Hampshire LUG <gnhlug-discuss(a)gnhlug.org> Subject: [Discuss] Boston Linux VIRTUAL Meeting , Wednesday, August 16, 2023 - AlmaLinux OS EVENT: When: August 16, 2023 7:00PM EDT (6:30PM for Q&A) Topic: AlmaLinux OS Speaker: Benny Vasquez Chair of Board of Directors, AlmaLinux (attending Maybe) AND Jack Aboutboul Community Manager for AlmaLinux (definitely attending:spkr) Location: Online: https://meet.jit.si/blu.org Live stream: https://youtube.com/live/a1t2emQp46Q?feature=share Summary: Overview of AlmaLinux OS Abstract: AlmaLinux OS is an Open Source, community owned and governed, forever-free enterprise Linux distribution, focused on long-term stability, providing a robust production-grade platform. Fwd: GNHLUG Quarterly Meeting Rescheduled to 10 July 2002

---------- Forwarded Message ---------- Subject: GNHLUG Quarterly Meeting Rescheduled to 10 July 2002 Date: Fri, 14 Jun 2002 15:32:55 -0400 From: pll(a)lanminds.com To: gnhlug-announce(a)zk3.dec.com Hi all, Ximian has requested a rescheduling of our 26 June meeting to 10 July because Nat is unable to make the original date due to travelling conflict. If you will be unable to make the new 10 July date and have registered, please contact me privately at: pll+gnhlug at NoSpam lanminds dot com and I will remove you from the rsvp list. Re: [Wlug] Meeting Ideas...

by Wes Allen

I think the mini-demo idea was a good way to go about it. It was offered to me last install-fest by my family and I were sick. As for this week, my wife and I are talking over my coming. I had promised her that she'd be able to go out with some friends that night in advance (cookie-swap) and while she insists that it's ok if I go to the wlug meeting instead I don't feel right reniging on that promise. So I might miss this AGAIN. ARRRRRGHHHH! Maybe this could be the January topic? I'd be interested to see anyone who's got a Zarus as well, how do you like it? July is often a difficult month. Many people on vacations, etc. Joining the email list is self-service: http://mail.wlug.org/mailman/listinfo/wlug which is linked from the top of the main website: http://www.wlug.org/ On Fri, Jul 14, 2017 at 11:58:26AM -0400, Eric Martin wrote: > I think a lot of us had other commitments last night, I know I did. Re: [Wlug] Question about WLUG BBQ

by Wesley Allen

I know I should just go to the site, but how was the last meeting? I was hoping to make this my first meeting but I ended up in a medical clinic with my 11 week old son instead (a 102.5 fever is NOT GOOD). He's doing well; I'm not. I'd like to come out, but I'd feel REALLY stupid coming to a BBQ for my first time; talk about bush league! Re: [Wlug] Meeting THIS thursday (Sept 8th! 2016) Topic: Docker!

by Temple, William M

Hello WLUG! Thanks for inviting me to give a talk on containers this Thursday. I'm a Senior at WPI and spent the last two summers working on container technologies at Red Hat under the Project Atomic/OpenShift banners. If you all are interested, topics for discussion could be: - Containers 101: Introduction & Motivations - Container Technologies -- docker -- Open Containers Initiative -- LXC, rkt, and others - Container Implementation -- namespaces -- cgroups -- security implications, comparison to Virtual Machines - Containers in Production (Kubernetes, etc.) - Containers in Consumer Environments (Flatpak, Snappy, etc.) If there are any other container-related topics you'd like to hear about, please just let me know and I can work them in. I'm mostly familiar with the Docker/OCI & Kubernetes orchestration stack, so I won't be able to go into technical details about other systems, but can give an overview if someone else wants to get into the weeds about any other container systems. Re: [Wlug] Reminder: Meeting ???? mid-century room.

by James Gray

Hi Keith, I had figured you were being sarcastic in your prior e-mail. I'm not entirely sure you aren't now. I concluded that the meeting was on Thursday. At one point Tim indicated Wednesday, but corrected himself that it was Thursday in another email. Chuck also indicated Thursday in the most recent email, so the question seemed settled to me. I find email subject lines to be often misleading just like the titles of news articles. Subject lines always seem to get out of date as the conversion evolves. thanks!
