Fully hackable, this FOSS KVM has a bunch of neat features. As usual expect a lively conversation, a cool demo and our usual shenanigans. I had thought of doing a demo of the VideoLan client/server. Doug, would you like to volunteer to bring your laptop? We'll need a hub and some cables to build a network. I'll be sure to have the necesary tarballs to make this work, or you can download them yourself if you wish. I'll bring a DVD or two and we can try it out. I had thought of doing this "live" like we did one other time. In case Doug can't make the meeting, having another laptop or two present might be interesting. Although the VideoLan client is interesting, I think the ability to stream the video over the net is pretty neat. My Framework 16 has been great. I have not upgraded anything. Games I couldn't run before can be run perfectly fine. I did recently try "Return to Moria" and it did not run well. It is PS5 game not available for the PS4 so I suspect it just requires more power than the Framework 16 graphics can give. I'm not running machine learning code so that hasn't been an issue for me. Reminder! Meeting TONIGHT March 9th, 2017! Topics: KVM, Virtualized windows apps, Linux Mint!

Hey Gang, First the important details! Location: Rm 331 (Hagglund Room) @ 7PM Topic: read below... Tonight we've got a meeting! After the last meeting a couple of people were asking me questions about KVM (Kernel based Virtual Machine). New member Al Reinhart asked me a question about the best ways to run windows apps on linux, either via wine or through KVM / Oracle Virtual Box. He also mentioned Linux.Encoder (the first linux ransomware) which I didn't even know exists. Long time member Doug Mildram also wrote me about Linux Mint. A distribution I know quite well! They'll be some conversation and we'll kick off an install and talk about it's merits as a greate distribution. As usual, there'll be refreshments and snacks and afterwards we'll head to Tech for pizza!
