Reminder: Meeting tonight! Topic: Intel Pocket PC (and possible give away!)

Hey Everybody! We've got a meeting tonight!! Location: Hudson Public Library Time: 7pm Topic: Intel Pocket PC running RetroArch, etc. I was given four of these tiny pocket pc's. I'm going to run RetroArch on one and see what we get. I also think they'd be cool as a plex driver for a TV as well. Beyond that, there's a lot going on in the linux world, from the Intel pay for features stuff to the Nvidia opening up ( a tiny bit ). We should also talk about where we'd like to host meetings. I reached out to Frank and it looks like WPI is back on the table. Would that work better for people? See ya there! REMINDER: Meeting, Wed. Sept. 12th

HI everybody, This is a reminder about the upcoming WLUG meeting, to be held this Wednesday, Sept. 12th, at 7 PM in Kinnicutt Hall on the WPI campus. Directions can be found on the WLUG website. I would like to spend part of the meeting discussing a potential group project. I was contacted by Warren Rasmussen, the Director of the Lancaster (MA) Center for the Aging. He would like to convert several of his office computers from Windoze to Linux, with shared printers, network, shared dialup modem, etc. Warren would also like us to entertain the notion of the creation of a few Linux workstations to be used by senior citizens for e-mail and web surfing, again, using Linux. Some training of the seniors would be required. He'd like to see if we can prove that Linux is easy enough for seniors to use. I have invited Warren to the meeting, so we can get more details from him at that time, and then gauge the interest level of the group in participating in this project. Since the WPI school year has just started, I would like to take the opportunity to introduce any WPI Linux Association officers who might be in attendance. I also plan to open the floor for tech support questions aimed at the group membership. I may still have an item or two that I can bring for a raffle. Afterwards, we'll adjourn to the Boynton Restaurant for some pizza and beer, and all are welcome to attend. I tried to go for a walk this morning, but fell and skinned my knee at the end of my own driveway. If someone could commit to pick me up at my house about 1/2 hour before the meeting I would make sure I was ready enough to fake it. I live about a mile from WPI. Send me mail. I will show you some of what I have been doing, and how I do it. The title of my talk: Love Programs work better than Love Poems Computatational Metaphysics Why and how to write soutce code that can be read Or something else if I thnk of it. Someone said recently that one of the best talks ever was Doug Waud showing TeX printing stuff nobody understood. I thought: "I could do that". I am not a pharmacist, so I will dazzle you with Scheme programs and Algebraic Geometry run through LaTeX. All in living black and white (or glowing green). -- Keith

Tim, For what it is worth I got my second Pfizer shot February 27th. On March 11th I flew to Miami, Florida for an IPO of Digital Ocean (a friend of mine is a founder), directly into the middle of maskless College idiots doing spring break (I wore a mask and practiced social distancing as well as getting my first two tests for COVID). Two weeks later I flew to Rio de Janeiro for a month (business meetings and to see my husband for the first time in a year). I feel safe in going to indoor restaurants (I still wear my mask when not actively eating and drinking. I trust in medicine, science and statistics, and I feel like Superman.
