Reminder: Meeting June 13th 2024 at 7PM! Topic: Your own personal LLM!

by Tim Keller

Hey Gang! We've got a meeting tomorrow!! Date/Time: June 13th 2024 @ 7pm. Location: Technocopia, 44 Portland St, 6th floor, Worcester MA. Virtual Location: (back to the old haunt) https://meet.jit.si/WlugMA <https://meet.jit.si/WlugMA> Considering how much AI has been in the news, I thought it would be cool to do a talk/demo about setting up your own personal Large Language Model! I'll either use my laptop of scrounge up a piece of good enough hardware to show it off.. hell I could even spin up a droplet and run it somewhere.. we'll figure that out. Jansen sent me some links to the cool stuff he uses and I'll definitely be leaning on his expertise and others. Here's what he wrote: the self-hosted webui i use is here: https://github.com/open-webui/open-webui ollama! https://github.com/ollama/ollama here's the docker for ollama: https://hub.docker.com/r/ollama/ollama I've experimented with the ollama models and they're cool. As usual we'll nerd out, wrestle with some LLM stuff and have a great time. Afterwards we'll head off to the Boyton or somewhere else for some dinner and keep the geekery in full swing. I'll bring some snacks and refreshments as well. Later, Tim. -- I am leery of the allegiances of any politician who refers to their constituents as "consumers".

Re: [Wlug] Volunteers needed!

by Andy Stewart

Hi all, WOW! The response has been great! Here's what I've got for volunteers so far: Critique the slides ------------------- Scott Venier Dean Deaver Doug Waud Tom Manders Conduct Demos ------------- Tim Keller Doug Waud Mark Komarinski I was hoping we could get 1 or 2 more people to do demos. I suspect that 4 people is enough to sufficiently critique the slides. The Delphi Developers group meeting takes place at: Allaire Corporation 275 Grove Street Newton, MA Check out their website for directions: http://www.discom.com/delphi/meeting/MeetingDirections.html The meeting is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM so we should probably get there early enough to setup, say 6:30 PM on Monday, April 23rd. I'd expect the traffic in this area to be pretty heavy at that time of day due to rush hour. I will find out more of the logistical information, such as, how much table space do we have, how many outlets, etc. Also, would somebody be kind enough to allow me to use their laptop for the presentation since I don't own a laptop? I'll export the presentation to HTML if necessary, or if you have StarOffice already installed, I'll use that. (Maybe its time I bought one instead of lugging around my full tower...). Upcoming meeting topic(s)

by Andy Stewart

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 HI Everybody, We appear to have a choice of meeting topics for April: 1) PGP Key signing party 2) My talk about the USB Delcom driver that goes with this piece of hardware: http://www.delcom-eng.com/productdetails.asp?productnum=802004 I'd rather move my talk out to May, but I could do it for April if that what folks desire. If we do the key signing party, I am wondering if Eric and Chuck would like to team up to run it. If so, does the April meeting work for you? Thoughts? Re: [Wlug] Meeting Reminder Thursday May 14th 2015!

by JeffA Maillists

I am by no means an eloquent public speaker, but I can bring my Kossel 3D printer and give some sort of informal demo/explanation of 3D printing and answer questions. I have a PI 2 setup with OctoPi too. ;-) Jeff Hey Everybody, We've got a meeting this Thursday! We've been tossing around talking about ZFS on linux and 3D printing. I haven't heard back from Chuck about where the meeting is going to be held yet. Does anybody have a preference on a topic? When: Thursday May 14th, 2015 @ 7pm Where: WPI (somewhere!) What: Either ZFS on linux or 3d printing. Refreshments: The usual! Next Meeting: July 12th 2018 Topic: Open Forum Location: WPI campus Center room 301 (Hagglund)

by Tim Keller

Hey Gang, Our next meeting is July 12th, 2018. Currently there isn't a topic, so I think I'm going to call this an open forum meeting. We'll definitely want to talk about when we want the BBQ. Personally, my vote is for Sept. Less bugs, cooler weather, etc. Obviously if someone with a pool wants to pitch for August I can be persuaded! Location: WPI Campus Center Rm 301 (Hagglund room) When you come up the stairs go right instead of left. Refreshments and snacks will be provided. Afterwards we'll head off for dinner and keep up the conversation. Later, Tim. -- I am leery of the allegiances of any politician who refers to their constituents as "consumers".

WLUG Meeting June 13th 2019! Topic: Side Channel Attacks

by Tim Keller

Hey Everybody, We've got a meeting on Thursday June 13th at 7PM! Location: WPI Campus Center Mid-Century room (rm 331) aka, the usual haunt. After last meeting we ended up having a side conversation regarding the now multiple side channel attacks that the Intel microarchitecture is vulnerable to. I thought it might be a good time to actually deep dive what these are, why they keep happening, why they're likely to continue and what efforts are being put in to try to mitigate them and the effects these migrations have on performance. As usual snacks and refreshments will be supplied and afterwards we'll head off for dinner to continue the conversation. Thanks, Tim. -- I am leery of the allegiances of any politician who refers to their constituents as "consumers".

This month I am up for virtual. Could easily be in minority and that's not a problem.
