Reminder: June WLUG meeting TODAY! Topic: Side Channel Attacks.

Hey Everybody, We've got a meeting today, Thursday June 13th at 7PM! Location: WPI Campus Center Mid-Century room (rm 331) aka, the usual haunt. After last meeting we ended up having a side conversation regarding the now multiple side channel attacks that the Intel microarchitecture is vulnerable to. I thought it might be a good time to actually deep dive what these are, why they keep happening, why they're likely to continue and what efforts are being put in to try to mitigate them and the effects these migrations have on performance. As usual snacks and refreshments will be supplied and afterwards we'll head off for dinner to continue the conversation! Hey! Chuck invited me to make a talk on XMonad, which I find it is a pretty cool window manager that can run on top of GNOME, or by itself. Reminder! Meeting July 12th 2017 Topic: Open Forum / BBQ / guix

Hey Gang, Our next meeting is July 12th, 2018. Currently there isn't a topic, so I think I'm going to call this an open forum meeting. There was some talk about guix, so we'll definitely be talking about that. We'll also talk about when we want the BBQ. Personally, my vote is for Sept. Less bugs, cooler weather, etc. Obviously if someone with a pool wants to pitch for August I can be persuaded! Location: WPI Campus Center Rm 301 (Hagglund room) When you come up the stairs go right instead of left. Refreshments and snacks will be provided. Announce: Meeting December 12th 7PM, WPI Campus Center Mid-Century Room 331

We are having a WLUG meeting this evening, December 12, at 7:00 PM in the WPI Campus Center, Mid-Century Room 331. http://www.wpi.edu/Admin/CC/Floorplans/37678.htm This seems like a good time to talk about the WLUG website. We've had half-completed plans since about 2 years ago to replace the hardware and software to create a Wiki or Drupal site to replace the outdated and manually-maintained-by-me HTML site. This week I plan to finally migrate things over to the new server, but the content will still be the old HTML site for now. We need some volunteers to help build a new site in either MediaWiki or Drupal or some other framework. After the meeting, we'll continue discussions over at Tech Pizza. Hope to see you there, Chuck
