Anybody who is interested in Linux is welcome to attend. At this meeting, David Dichmann from Sybase will be the guest speaker, talking about Sybase on Linux. Included are ATAPI CDROM drives (8-16x), 3.5" floppy drives, a couple of power supplies, and a couple of Pentium 200MHz motherboards. Reminder!!! September 18th WLUG Meeting! Topic: Tailscale / Nebula

Hey Everybody, We've got a meeting THIS Thursday! Time: 7pm Date: September 18th, 2025 Location: Technocopia, 44 Portland St. Worcester MA. Virtual Location: https://meet.jit.si/WlugMA Topic: Why Traditional Network Security is DOOMED! In this talk, I'll explain how we've *done *modern network security, and why tools like tailscale / headscale / nebula largely nullify some of this security. For those of us who are network / security administrators I'll talk about what we should be looking for, and I'll also show off how these technologies are amazingly useful. I will be definitely demoing Tailscale as I'm a daily driver of it and provided it doesn't break my existing stuff I'll show off Nebula. I'm sure this is going to foster a lively discussion about networking, firewalls, security in general and what security on modern networks is going to have to look like to address these new technologies. As usual after the meeting we'll go get some dinner and keep talking. I hope to see you all there! I can reserve a time slot for tomorrow if there's enough interest in going to the library for a change in pace and scenery. Reminder: November WLUG Meeting at the Hudson Public Library! Topic: Intel Management Engine.

Hey Everybody, We've got a meeting this Thursday November 18th, 2021 at 7pm - 8:30pm at the Hudson Public Library! Firstly, a big shout out to Joshua Stone for making the reservation at the Hudson Public Library. Secondly, the meeting will also be online at our usual Jitsi location for people who can't make it in person. https://meet.jit.si/WlugMA The topic we'll be discussing at the meeting is the Intel Management Engine technology buried in every Intel CPU. This technology includes a version of Minix running on a separate core inside your CPU you don't control. Moreover, with the right software, changes to your machine can be made remotely, even when the system is powered off (but connected to power). As with all this stuff, of course since the whole thing is cooked into the firmware, it's full of security flaws, etc.. We'll talk about those flaws and how to disable it! We'll also likely touch on the Tesla Dojo D1 processing unit. They've made some claims that I've posted to the mailing list. Logan did some digging and it turns out their claims are not as blow your mind as would be first interpreted. The Hudson Public Library does allow food and drink, so I will bring the usual pretzels and snacks. Afterwards we will be going to Rail Trail Flatbread <https://railtrailflatbread.com/>for dinner.
