Yeah, we had a ton of DECstations and a bunch of various early model Alphas at WPI which we beta tested for DEC. The AS2100 with 8 DEC StorageWorks canisters (which Netapp used on their early F220, F330, F740 NAS systems) holding 3.5" disks, dual ported, hot-swapable. Nice gear. The move from Ultrix to DEC OSF/1 was a bit painful, but not terrible as I recall, but I'm sure I've blocked all the bad memories from then. Thanks for the walk down memory lane! John

I suspect the amount you would pay at the animal shelter would PALE next to what you are going to pay for vet bills, spaying/neutering (usually done around 6 mos as I recall), food, etc. So despite your comment, I'll plug these guys: http://www.worcester-arl.org/catsAdoption.html But for another source, people are giving away kittens all the time on Worcester freecycle. I've created a survey to get some insight on these changes in the Linux desktop and how quickly they're being adopted. As we currently have no use for it and I'd hate to see it go to waste, get back to me if you'd like it, but please only do so if you'll put it to good use, I'd hate to see something like this go to waste. I believe the UltraSPARCs were SCSI disks. You can probably find some of those on ebay real cheap. I could be wrong, though....and judging from the mails over the last few days I bet other people here will be able to correct that. Might as well take this time to introduce myself... My name is Justin St. Marie. I live in Worcester and have been using linux for years, but only for about a year professionally. I do what I can, but I am far from an expert in any *nix environment. I am a RHCT, hopefully able to pass the RHCE in a few months...we'll see... When is the next meeting? The website only said where it was, that I saw. WLUG BBQ!!!

Hi Everybody, Although I have not yet updated the WLUG website, the WLUG BBQ is going to happen! The BBQ will be held in Shrewsbury at Doug Waud's house like it was 2 years ago. Directions are forthcoming. Thanks, Doug! Our next meeting of WLUG will be at the BBQ on Thursday, August 22, 2002. The BBQ will start around 6 PM and go until Doug kicks us out (watch it, he has Steve as his bouncer). If you can't make it at 6 PM, show up whenever you can. WLUG will supply the food and munchies and will have sodas on hand. You may BYOB (beer, wine, whatever) if you wish. If you would like to bring a salad or dessert, feel free! Label your container with your name to insure its return. Doug has a swimming pool which we can use, so if you are interested, bring a bathing suit and towel. Its not clear to me if one must actually *wear* the bathing suit. We'll rig up some kind of projection system for a LInux talk of some flavor. It may end up getting used by some of you ASCII Art fanatics, but that's OK too. ;-) What good would a Linux party be without an Internet connection, a projector, and a laptop or three? Please RSVP to me and let me know that you'll be coming. In this way, we can be sure to have enough food on hand. Other party ideas? Send them out to the list!
