I use a wireguard VPN on my phone anytime I leave my house, mainly for ad blocking. I run pi-hole at home to block ads network wide, and when I leave wifi, my phone automatically joins the VPN at home and uses the same pi-hole servers for DNS. Doug and I were trying to figure where to project and onto what, and we do have some ideas in mind (generated fog, multiple sprinklers, side of house, bed sheets, et al.). However, I doubt either of us would mention this to his wife, so buying a 60"+ HDTV, for example, is not entirely ruled out! ;-) If there are any unforeseen issues, my place would be backup, and there is high-speed Internet at both locations, so that shouldn't be an issue (But Doug has a pool!). Given the appropriate technology, like building on the wireless stuff we did this week, it shouldn't matter where the meeting is held (distractions like food and drink aside!). Steve

I've noticed that my CD burner (according to K3B) averages about 24X, even though it is advertised as a 48X CD burner. Is this to be expected, or do I have a cheap(er) drive that can't sustain the data rate? It is an IDE/ATAPI drive (NEC3550). It takes approx. 4 minutes for me to burn a 700MB CD (including some fiddling and diddling about calibrating power, fixating, etc). I use Memorex CD-R media (52X, 700MB, 80 min). I'm curious about your CD buring experiences, especially if they are faster than mine. I'd like to know what drive you have, the media you use, and most importantly, how did you determine your drive speed? CD's burn faster (in MB/sec) near the outside of the disc than near the inside, and they're burned from inside out. So they're always going to start slow and speed up. I have a 48x drive, and if I'm burning a full disc (where the CD is capable of that) it reaches something close to that near the end of the disc. As long as all of the APs are on either matching or non-overlapping channels, you should be fine. In practice, this means you'll get the best overall throughput by evenly distributing them across channels 1, 6, and 11. You *might* be able to get away with channel 14 (this is outside of the normal part 15 regs, but you can probably legally get away with it since you're licensed), but you may have strange results if you're trying to have standard wifi clients connecting to them, as some of them are set up only for US options and won't look at that channel at all.
