Ok, so I did, gpg --recv-keys ... [everyone's ID from the meeting ] gpg --fingerprint ... [ confirm fingerprints ] for key in ... ; do gpg --sign-key $key; done for key in ... ; do gpg --send-key $key; done Now "gpg --list-keys" shows all the keys I expected to see. And just now I did a "gpg --recv-keys <my ID>" and it said I had 6 new signatures, gpg: requesting key 103BA0B0 from hkp server pgp.mit.edu gpg: key 103BA0B0: "Jamie Guinan <guinan(a)bluebutton.com>" 6 new signatures gpg: 3 marginal(s) needed, 1 complete(s) needed, PGP trust model gpg: depth: 0 valid: 1 signed: 12 trust: 0-, 0q, 0n, 0m, 0f, 1u gpg: depth: 1 valid: 12 signed: 1 trust: 12-, 0q, 0n, 0m, 0f, 0u gpg: next trustdb check due at 2009-04-16 gpg: Total number processed: 1 gpg: new signatures: 6 I think that looks good. Yep, definitely the case. Need CUDA cores, without them it's doing other and more work. It's funny the apple silicon will probably see faster performance increase than the Radeons just because that's where the people wrenching on this stuff are. I'm still in intel land there for OSX and will be for quite a while (audio software reasons). I'm operating slowly with a 2070RTX and agree, once you've got process, it is a much better value proposition to pay for cloud inferencing. Merging of large checkpoints, building intricate models, aren't possible on consumer hardware until you get into silly money and datacenter boards will always be faster in any case. There's facility and process for separation of elements but were I working professionally in this fashion I would not be expecting final output from inferencing. I would use it as a stock library, at this point in the tech anyway. Even the simplest use of the thing- generating backgrounds, saves so much work and allows for so much different _kind_ of work that if that was all it did it would be a revolution. Separation or direction of elements during inferencing has seen improvement in leaps and bounds, though. Not long ago it was just inpainting (creating masks), and autogeneration of partitions with math, then partition by token/attention and now even automatable manipulation of masking and weights by partition by mask. So it's definitely doable but would require each to build pipeline for their needs. Those tools are still in early stages but the ComfyUI¹ has a 'workflows' conceit for doing a lot of that with visual programming. I haven't moved on from grado library webui yet so no first hand experience with it. Already have pipelines for my purpose in that, the usual, no time to move to the bleeding edge~ For that particular need, the stock featureset of Automatic1111² can do growth, called "outpainting", of a given input. There's extensions to expand on steering capabilities for that but it does a fine job in my experience, as long as the checkpoint and tokens you're using "knows" something of the input. Talking about art is like dancing about architecture so I hope I'm being clear. Yes food and drink are allowed. The class room has lots of plugs along the walls, although bringing out some extra power strips can also happen. We support back to Cambrian era, so Mezozoic is no problem ;). Precambrian however you are going to need to bring your own microscope. RAID0 = stripping RAID1 = mirroring RAID5 = parity RAID5 suffers on write performance when compared to RAID1, since if you write a small chunk of data, RAID5 may have to actually READ/COMPUTE PARITY/WRITE to all the drives. With RAID1, it's a simple parallel write to each drive. No READ overhead. RAID5 can generally just lose 1 disk from the set without losing data. RAID1 can lose 1/2 the mirror without losing data. How you implement your RAID1 setup across more than two disks is an issue. I choose RAID1 over RAID5 because I only had space for two drives, and I only had an HPT302 with dual channels, so I put one disk on each channel for maximum peformance. If I had more money and a 3ware controller, I probably would have gone for RAID5 on my data, since it has a size/cost advantage over RAID1. I would NEVER go for RAID0 for my data, too much potential for data loss. Even with backups. In my case, I've got a pair of 9gb SCSI disks, and I currently boot off one. My plan has always been to mirror the two disks so that if I lost one, I could still boot. My data is all on a pair of 120gb IDE drives, which are mirrored, and which have saved me from ugly restores, because I noticed that one disk had dropped out and I was able to just re-mirror without any major impact. Re: Uptime!

A branch for my company has one remaining Solaris box that keeps up a service or two with a ridiculous uptime and they recently built a new facility. In a meeting we were discussing the move plan for their entire IT kit and they asked me about the feasibility of moving the Solaris box across town on an UPS so they wouldn't have to shut it down. I kindly asked them to reconsider because while they might keep power applied for the whole ride it'd be unlikely that the disks would survive the trip. I usually figure out which chipset I want, first, and then narrow my search to motherboards with that chipset. If you're looking at regular ATX motherboards, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find one that *didn't* have onboard FireWire and Gigabit Ethernet. I suspect most motherboards these days will meet all your specs except for >= 3 PCI slots. The industry seems to be in a hurry to drop PCI slots. -- Rich
