I think the only thing I sorta maybe looking for is a really good sound card to use with Linux. My DELL Precision 610MT (dual PIII Xeon 550) has a crappy builtin sound card (which I can't get to work with ALSA) and I'm not happy with the Avance ALS4000 card I have either. I'll try to make the next thursday night meeting and bring stuff for trade/sell. John

I do think the fact that nobody, except Chuck, remembered the FB page that is already there, tells you all you need to know about how useful it is. I am happy with the mailing list; I have never used the web page, though I did look at it a couple of times just to see that it was there, but if somebody else wants to maintain other web pages, I have no objection. The web is made of pages I never look at. It's not a problem. -- Keith

Hello All, I recently tried both the free VMWare GSX server and the quasi-free virtualbox with gui. I ended with GSX for two reasons. o Virtualbox kernel panics under the Debian FAI install kernel after about 10 minutes of package installs. Not sure why it dies, but since I want to use VMs to test new installations to keep machines from breeding in my office, this was a show-stopper for me. o Setting up bridged networking and the tap interfaces to share the host connection happens outside the virtual application. Setting them up I found to be a pain, even though I eventually got it working.
