Hi Tim, John and I were the only ones who showed that I know of. We stayed till about 7:15. I checked my email and the LUG website before I left (just in case). I understand that things sometimes happen, but found it amazing that only two of us showed. Hi everyone, First thanks being o.k. with my bringing my 5 year old on, Andrew to the last meeting. He does want to become a "Junior WLUG member". For that reason I did not contribute much to the android meeting. Below is a summary of my favorite apps, some were mentioned Wednesday and some were not. Thanks James. I'll pass along the group-finder thing to the soon-to-be-ex-Mac guy. The text file has been broken since May 2012. This is a genealogical database, that runs in a program that accesses the file, which consists of names, dates, places, etc, plus notes. I think the bogus character might be an at sign @ but if so, it won't help to search for it, because GEDCOMS contain several @ for each individual. My database contains 115,000 individuals. I think I know what family (surname) I was working on when it broke, though, and it still hangs there. I guess I could grep the file for that surname and get it to output a couple of lines after it finds each instance. So WLUG isn't dead yet, although some of it might be asleep. But we're here. I appreciate your help. WLUG demos...

I know I haven't been ot a meeting in a *long* time, but I do hope to make one this spring if I can. Right now I'm playing with Arduino controller boards on my Ubuntu desktop. Fun blinky LEDs, etc. http://arduino.cc http://www.ladyada.com (where I got my parts) http://www.sparkfun.com http://www.evilmadscientist.com (lots of neat stuff) And loads of others in google. It's pretty neat to play with, and it's interesting moving from the IDE (which has a sucky editor) to a more pure Emacs/Makefile driven setup. I figure maybe I could come and demo this at some point. Any interest? Loosely Linux related, since I'll be using an Ubuntu LiveCD and thumb drive to setup and demo the environment. John
