Arduino

I have an Arduino here, never used; new in packaging. This is an Arduino Uno, I guess the original, made in Italy. The kit contains the controller board, a 16 x 2 character LCD module (green screen), and a power supply. See wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arduino I will never use this, but I know someone can. Maybe a fun project for the right kid or parent/child combo to build something with it. Someone should come get this. I am conveniently located near Elm Park, not far from WPI and easy to find. You could drop by on your way to/from the meeting. I could tuck it away out of sight on the front porch for you, with your name on it. Liz J

Red Hat controversy

Hey everyone, I didn't talk about the Red Hat controversy at last night's meeting, namely the decision to stop publishing RHEL sources to git.centos.org <https://www.redhat.com/en/blog/furthering-evolution-centos-stream> and the implications this has on the various RHEL clones. This sounds like your Ubuntu 20.x install went south. Was this a new install or your current system? Did you apply any updates before this problem came up? So I think what you want to do is boot an Ubunto 20.04 or 20.10 ISO, and then go into 'rescue' mode or shell mode. I honestly forget. But the idea is to then get into your setup, chroot to your old non-booting setup and re-run the 'update-grub' or 'update-initramfs' tools to rebuild your setup. But we do need more details. Would it be possible for you to bring the computer to a WLUG meeting? People would be able to help you there more quickly than over email.
