Refreshments and snacks...

My wife has offered to pick up the refreshments / snacks for the meeting. Does anybody have any preferences? I was thinking of bring Water / Coke / Cookies (likely Newman O's) We will be gorging ourselves on pizza right after so we don't have to go too crazy... Cryptoparty in Worcester on Sun. Mar 22

Hello Worcester Linux Users Group! My name is Steve and I'm a Linux user who lives in the Boston Area. I'm helping to organize a Cryptoparty at the Worcester Public Library, and I wanted to extend an invitation to WLUG members. The cryptoparty is this Sunday 3/22 from 2pm - 4pm, and we plan to cover Jitsi and GnuPG. The WPL is located at 3 Salem Street, Worcester, and we'll be meeting in the Banx room. ZFS on Linux vs. BTRFS or stick with EXT4?

I'm migrating to new large drives and would lke to take advantage of a filesystem that has integrated data and metadata checksums. How well does ZFS on Linux really work? What is the current status of BTRFS? Which one would you trust your precious data to? I've been out of the loop lately... This would be a great meeting topic! "How to set up ZFS on Linux and/or BTRFS". Any takers?

Django, Apache mod_wsgi

Does anyone know Python Django and Apache mod_wsgi? I would love an introductory talk on this topic, maybe for the December meeting? I'm mostly interested in overall architecture and how to deploy and manage Django apps, rather than how to write Django apps from scratch. If I can get this much figured out, we could have a new mailinglist + web forum server for WLUG!

newbie onboard

I hope to attend this meeting, but inform you I am not a person of technical expertise in this matter. May main aim with WLUG is to acquaint myself with other Linux users in the area and learn about what they are doing. It is with this that I hope to spread Linux usage in Worcester by various means including, I hope, having an installation fest (feast?). My introductory knowledge is with Ubuntu (Gnome and KDE), Mint (Gnome and KDE), Peppermint, Debian and Open SuSe. Right now I am using Mint 17.3 KDE. I also want to start a Linux SIG with Mensa. Thank you.

Any one else a convert to Postfix? *grin* I'm keeping my sendmail book, if only for a reference when I need to debug some craziness in sendmail, but from now on I try to only use postfix if I can help it.

Libre Planet 2016 - Mar 19th/20th

Hi all, Just a heads up to those that hadn't noticed/heard yet: Libre Planet 2016 will be held at MIT this coming this 19th & 20th. This year's keynote speaker is ACLU technologist and Debian contributer Daniel Kahn Gillmor having a discussion with Edward Snowden (via live stream, of course!). Been a long time now since I've stopped in to the WLUG meeting, but I hope to see you at the event!
