A few meetings ago, someone had a network bandwidth monitor...anyone remember what it was? it was not nload or iftop, but something else that i can't think of! can you remember?

Ubuntu vs Kubuntu

At the last meeting someone mentioned some kind of fallout between Ubuntu and Kubuntu. I missed most the details and was wondering if anyone had a link to an article that explains this. Knoppix 5 dvd

I got ahold of the knoppix 5 dvd and there was talk about people wanting it at the last meeting.... if anyone wants a copy, let me know and I'll burn one for you. >From what i can see, it is a bootable dvd, but still in German, not english, but I did not explore to much into it. thanks mike

I had a few ideas kicking in the back of my head for a meeting topic. By no means am I volunteering to give a talk on this, however I thought it would be a good idea to toss out. </end-disclaimer> How about a talk on port forwarding? The talk could include tunneling via program (like the old school datapipe proggy) and more appropriately the finner points of SSH port forwarding. Other peripheral topics could be including such as: port knocking, alt mechanisms of ssh authentication, and X11 forwarding. Just a thought... Cheers, Mike

Hi all, I can't connect to wlug.org:80, has it been down long? Also, while I can remember lots of facts about people at the WLUG meetings, I still have trouble associating names. need to test notebook

A friend of mine just got a used notebook computer, but it has no AC adapter, and the battery is dead. He'd like to test it out before he invests any significant money into it. I'm wondering if anyone has an AC adapter for a Dell Inspiron 18000 and would be willing to bring it to the meeting, so we can see if this thing will fire up. And does anyone know of a good place to get used parts locally (like an AC adapter)? Thanks, Greg
