Linuxworld

I lost the thread about the linuxworld trip since I didn't think i was going, now I am.... Anyone going all 4 days? Was there a commutting option? Ya'll just taking the train, etc,etc,etc... I get to go all 4 days on the company's credit card! Hope there is good stuff down there. Anyone ever been before? Is it worth dragging a laptop down there for 4 days? Thanks Yes, there is Accessible Parking right in front of Daniels Hall. The meeting is held in the Wedge between Daniels and Morgan Halls.

swappiness

We had a discussion about swappiness at the last meeting. Here's what my system defaults to: >cat /etc/fedora-release Fedora Core release 3 (Heidelberg) >cat /proc/sys/vm/swappiness 60 I don't see this being changed in any of the init scripts, so the default is most likely changed in the Fedora kernel from 100 to 60. If you want to tune it, you should be able to just stick this in /etc/sysctl.conf: vm.swappiness = <new value> Here is more information on what this is all about: http://kerneltrap.org/node/3000
