Re: Thanks everybody, last nights virtual meeting was great!

Hello everyone. Zori told me that you guys had another wonderful WLUG meeting yesterday. I wish I could also make it to the WLUG meeting yesterday. It's been over three months now that I was among the 250 people (1/3 of the company) that got laid off because of COVID19 crisis from Bullhorn. I was one of their Linux Sys Admins. If any of you guys know of any entry level Sysadmin positions locally. Please keep me in mind if something pops up. I really appreciate it. Hope to see you at next month's meeting. We've got a meeting on Thursday March 10th! Date & Time: March 10th, 2022 @ 7pm Location: Hudson Public Library and Jitsi at our usual haunt ( https://meet.jit.si/WlugMA) Topic: KiCAD EDA software Speaker(s): John Stoffel and Tim Keller This is going to be an in person and virtual meeting at the Hudson Public Library! The topic is KiCAD, a FOSS EDA (Electronic Design Automation) CAD tool. KiCAD is a computer aided design software package that enables you to create logical circuit diagrams and convert them into a PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards). This software is being used in the industry and has a vibrant community around it. The speaker for this talk is our own esteemed member John Stoffel with myself lending a hand. John and I will show up some of the features of the software, talk about how he's used it to create his own PCB's and give a quick demo. As always these days the entire meeting will be uploaded to our youtube channel. Snacks and Refreshments will be provided and afterwards we'll head out for dinner. This meeting is open to anybody with an interest in Linux. I'm still looking for a speaker for this meeting. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact me ASAP. If we don't have a speaker, we'll have to find a way to amuse ourselves. :-) Volunteer speakers get free food after the meeting. I recently received a large package from the Netherlands. It contains 100 Ubuntu Linux CD sets (version 4.10 from November 2004) to give away. Bring home 5 - 10 of them for your friends - I'm not kidding! Check out http://www.ubuntulinux.org for more information. Each set contains 2 CDs - one is a live eval CD similar to Knoppix, while the other one is used to install Ubuntu on your system. Feel free to stop in just to get some CDs (but I hope you'll stay for the meeting!). Ubuntu is Debian based with Gnome as the default desktop. Hosting in-person meetings at library

Hey all, I've learned that the library in my town is open to the public for hosting club meetings! More info: https://hudsonpubliclibrary.com/ Some of the benefits I can think of for having meetings at the library include: - Free hosting - Free public wifi - Free on-site parking - Low noise levels - Projector and whiteboard are available - Books, music, movies, etc, are available for checking out (https://bark.cwmars.org/eg/opac/home) - Adjacent to many restaurants, most having outdoor seating - Has EV charging stations nearby - Access to well-maintained walking trails and public parks Cons: - Conference room capacity is capped at 10 occupants - Meetings must end 15 minutes before library's closing time, so would have to end at 8:15PM - Many restaurants might be closed by 9PM I could imagine going back to our usual monthly meetings, from 7:00PM to 8:15PM on Thursdays, then walking over to one of the restaurants next door for food and drinks.
