I know, I know, I never come to the meetings; but I'll put in a couple of sugguestions.... How about a demo of one of the open-source pvr projects? If anyone has worked with one, that is... ***OR*** I wonder if a "patch-night" would be fun. Take a vanilla kernel, have everyone bring in their favorite patches; and people can build a custom super-kernel..... Need acpi? no problem. Need supermount? no problem (I'm a mandrake loser, sue me) Win4lin? Sure! Tpconfig? Got it right here! AMD Chip? we're compiling now Was that for PPC? Right this way.... And so on. The more I read kernel lists and such, the more I realize that I don't know half of the great kernel-patches out there; this might be a fun way to learn... Just an idea.... Meeting Reminder: Next Meeting March 16th 2023 (Tomorrow) Location: WPI Student Center Rm 129

Hey Everybody! We've got a meeting tomorrow! Time: 7PM Date: March 16th, 2023 Location: WPI Student Center Chair's Room 129. Virtual Location: https://meet.jit.si/WlugMA Topic: Ventoy, docker stuff, printers, pi compute stuff, etc. I thought I'd show off Ventoy which is a multiboot usb that lets you run a whole pile of different distros. We can definitely talk printers.. I've been deploying lots of Ubuntu 22.04 machines and I've had to delve into the fun that is cups.. I can definitely get on the HP hate bandwagon.. There's some scuttlebutt that Docker is talking about purging all the OSS images of users who don't pony up subscription money.. I'm sure we'll dive off into lots of topics as well. Pi compute boards, personal k8s clusters, etc. As usual snacks and refreshments will be provided and we'll do dinner afterwards and continue the conversation. Hope to see you there! If not, I could try to give a talk about the Smart Package Manager, which (thanks to Greg Avedissian) I have been using on my laptop for a month or two. If other folks know more about this than I know, it could turn into a discussion where we could all learn something new. GNHLUG quarterly meeting to be held at USENIX Technical Conference

Hi, I have been thinking about having the quarterly meeting of GNHLUG down in Boston at the USENIX Technical conference. This meeting would not only be open to all members of GNHLUG, but also members of BLU (the Boston Linux User's group, www.blu.org) and the Worcester Linux User's Group (www.wlug.org) I have contacted USENIX and they have a room for us on Thursday, July 1st from 7-9 P.M. EDT. Later that evening Ted Ts'o and I will be leading a more formal Linux BoF from 9-11. Both meetings will be at the Boston Marriott Copley Place. Hello everyone. Zori told me that you guys had another wonderful WLUG meeting yesterday. I wish I could also make it to the WLUG meeting yesterday. It's been over three months now that I was among the 250 people (1/3 of the company) that got laid off because of COVID19 crisis from Bullhorn. I was one of their Linux Sys Admins. If any of you guys know of any entry level Sysadmin positions locally. Please keep me in mind if something pops up. I really appreciate it. Hope to see you at next month's meeting.
