Re: [Wlug] Next meeting location

by Stephen C. Daukas

From the WPI Library Parking Lot to Atwater Kent 233: Go up the 103 stairs on the LEFT SIDE of the library until you reach the front entrance of the Gordon Library. When facing the library, turn left and walk on the road which goes slightly downhill. Salisbury Labs will be on your left. You will approach a building on your right called Fuller Labs. Go past that building. The road curves to the left. You will then see the Atwater Kent building on your right. Enter that building and go upstairs. AK233 is up there somewhere. Re: Great meeting last night... but we need topics...

by John Stoffel

Dennis> Argh! I meant to join last night but forgot. Same here, work has slowly been taking up my evenings since they all Cali time... I'd like to maybe talk Ansible, and about my experience in slowly getting upto speed with it and learning how it can make my life simpler. And harder. And how much I hate all those silly simple examples which don't *do* anything. "Look how easy it is to install Apache and php using ansible!" type of stupid examples. What if I were to demo the SuSE Live Eval CD instead? It is actually quite close to a fully installed SuSE distribution. Re: [Wlug] Discussion: Email list policy for recruiters

by Jamie Guinan

My $0.02... I think the mailing list should be like the meetings - if someone at a meeting says "hey, $COMPANY has this opening doing Linux sysadmin/programming/etc.", great. But if some random recruiter walks into the room without any introductions and starts blabbing about jobs and how great his company is, I imagine they'd be told where to go. In any case (and to kick a dead horse from a few months ago), I think all job postings should be open to satire. If you're a recruiter and you post something that looks like an obvious death march[1], be prepared to have the euphemistic recruiter-speak appropriatly analyzed and made fun of. >:) -Jamie [1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_march_(software_development)

My reference to LTSP was intended to convey the idea of a diskless client (in this case a lowly Pentium 90 with 40 MB of memory and working video and network) getting its boot image over the network but running all of its apps off of a server.
