Looking for Trixbox and A2 Billing project support (Simon)

by Simon Kigo

I have a project consisting of setting up a prepaid phone card operation using Linux server, Trixbox and A2 Billing sofware. I have Trixbox running on a Centos Server right now, but there is more work to be done. I dont know if anyone has experience in this kind of setup or in VOIP area. If you do, I would appreciate hearing from you. Awesome. I'll have to try to make it to an upcoming event. I was thinking about setting up either a Matrix server for chat, or a Lemmy server for a reddit-like set of discussion forums. Reminder!!!! Next Meeting: June 9th @ 7pm! Speaker: Jon "maddog" Hall!!!!

by Tim Keller

Hey Gang, Jon "Maddog" Hall is going to be speaking at the upcoming meeting! Here's the details: Date & Time: June 9th, 2016 @ 7pm Location: WPI Atwater-kent Rm 232 Topic: Back from the Dead: Projects that maddog is working on, and why you should care Abstract: Only a month after a massive heart attack maddog will be talking about some of the projects he is working on: (1) Rebooting the Linux Professional Institute (and why you should care) (2) Selling small computers in Brazil (and why you should care) (3) Creating jobs for the jobless and help for the clueless (and why you should care) NOTE: John has informed me he needs to head off right after the meeting... So I'm going to arrange to have some pizza delivered! I expect that after the meeting we're going to head off to wooberry or elsewhere for dessert. Who is Jon "Maddog" Hall? Jon "maddog" Hall is the Chairman of the Board of the Linux Professional Institute, and the President of Linux International. Since 1969, Mr. Hall has been a programmer, systems designer, systems administrator, product manager, technical marketing manager, author and educator. He currently works as an independent consultant, and is involved with bringing environmentally friendly computing to emerging marketplaces as well as working on performance and educational issues with Free and Open Source Software via the Linaro Association. He is also closely aligned with LeMaker, a design center located in Shengen, China. While not a founding member of LPI, maddog helped formulate some of the concepts and donated personal money to allow the first 200 tests be tested for psychometrics. Mr. Hall has worked for such companies as Western Electric Corporation, Aetna Life and Casualty, Bell Laboratories, Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), VA Linux Systems, SGI, Futura Networks (Campus Party) and Linaro. Mr. Hall has taught at Hartford State Technical College (HSTC), Merrimack College and Daniel Webster College. While at HSTC his students gave him the nickname of "maddog", and he developed the skills necessary for talking to university students over pizza and beer. Mr Hall has worked on many different operating systems (MFT, MVT, VS1, VS2, MVS, CP-67, VM/CMS, RSTS/E, RSX-11M, CP/M) but concentrated on Unix systems since 1980 and Linux systems since 1994, when he first met Linus Torvalds and correctly recognized the commercial importance of Linux and Free and Open Source Software. Mr. Hall obtained a DEC "Alpha" system for Linus Torvalds and organized and engineering team which helped the Linux community to port Linux to the world's fastest 64-bit microcomputer. Since 2006 Mr. Hall has been working on Project Cauā, which will large numbers of high-tech jobs allowing students who could not afford to attend university to both attend university and get real-life job experience. Mr. Hall is the author of numerous magazine and newspaper articles, many presentations and one book, "Linux for Dummies". He currently writes a blog for Linux Pro Magazine. Mr. Hall has consulted with the governments of China, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Brasil as well as the United Nations and many local and state governments on the use of Free and Open Source Software. Mr. Hall serves on the boards of several companies, and several non-profit organizations. He is currently very active with the University of Sao Paulo's Centro Interdisciplinar Em Tecnologias Interativas (CITI), acting as a member of their advisory board. Mr. Hall has traveled to over 100 countries, many more than one time, speaking on the benefits of Open Source Software having received his BS in Commerce and Engineering from Drexel University (1973), and his MSCS from RPI in Troy, New York (1977). In his spare time maddog is working on his retirement project: maddog's monastery and marina for math, music, micro-computing, micro-brewery, micro-winery, micro-distilery, and bait shop. -- I am leery of the allegiances of any politician who refers to their constituents as "consumers".

WPI wireless setup on ubuntu linux

by sknaqvi＠WPI.EDU

Hi every1, I am glad to know there is a local linux community alive. I was really looking forward to joining the WPI linux association but couldn't find anything related at the activities fair at WPI. Could anyone tell me their website, when their meetings are, or perhaps can I meet a member from the association? Secondly, to setup wireless connection with WPI on-campus, I followed the instructions on a WPI webpage (a private one-i googled my problem and came up with this but sadly it isn't appearing now) and the CCC webpage but to no avail. Could anyone help me out with this-please? Anyways I would really like to meet any linux dudes like me so just drop by anytime you like-I am at Institute Hall 105. I don't know whether this would help, but here's what I did to setup the wireless: 1. installed ndiswrapper and wpa_supplicant 2. setup the driver using ndiswrapper and intel 3945 driver's inf file 3. Configured ifconfig and iwconfig for wlan0 4. Ran the following command: wpa_supplicant -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -i wlan0 -D ndiswrapper It's here I run into problems-I get the following output: ioctl[SIOCSIWSCAN]: Resource temporarily unavailable Failed to initiate AP scan. Trying to associate with 00:15:e8:df:ad:40 (SSID='WPI-Wireless' freq=0 MHz) Authentication with 00:00:00:00:00:00 timed out. CTRL-EVENT-TERMINATING - signal 2 received Failed to disable WPA in the driver. ioctl[SIOCSIWAP]: Resource temporarily unavailable Am I doing something wrong? Do you have any suggestions. Please help because this is the only thing which would allow me to quit Windows for daily life! Thank you in advance Yours sincerely, S. Kazim Naqvi

I am interested in the tool path. Perhaps you can discuss how the tool path flows and provide some idea of your experience with set up to work with the CNC machine. 1) What do you use for CAD?. Do you use STL files as an output? 2) What do you use as an equivalent to a slicer (to generate G-code from the STL file, select bits, etc..). 3) Anything else related to tool path tools or terminology. 4) General impressions, what works, what does not, etc....
