I like the LTSP topic... Perhaps we could also put on a tutorial for putting together an email server, discussing spam, et al.? Next WLUG Meeting March 21st 2019, Topic: TBD

Hey Gang, We've got a WLUG meeting on the 14th of March Location: WPI Student Center Mid Century Room (rm 331) Time: 7pm I've got a couple ideas for topics. 1. Snaps / flatpacks / appimage. These are entirely encapsulated applications that'll run on a variety of linux distributions. My new laptop runs snaps using snapd. This is just one of a bunch of new technologies for distributing software without having it tied to the machines glibc and underlying libraries. 2. Microsoft and its complicated relationship with the OSS community. Are we moving towards a dystopian future of locked and signed bootloaders? Where your only option is to run Windows 10 with the linux subsystem. Has google essentially done the same thing with Chromebook's and ChromeOS and Android? If someone has a topic that they're dying to do, let me know. As usual refreshments and snacks will be provided and afterwards we'll head off for dinner to continue the conversation. Playing with Cinnamon last night I'm going to take the dive and throw it on a RHEL7 VM and see if I like it better than Mate. If so, I'll swap over my desktop and see... Thanks for doing some great digging on the projector stuff.. It's only 2017... Projectors should just *work*. Hey Tim, We're good to go! I've reserved the conference room at the Hudon public library for the following times: Nov 18 @ 7:00PM - 8:30PM Dec 9 @ 7:00PM - 8:30PM I figured it'd be best to reserve the room for the December meeting just in case we decide to meet in-person again for the holidays. If we decide on a different venue, then I can free up that time slot. I have no idea how many people might come. Maybe 30? Is someone taking RSVPs? If your main goal is to advance your knowledge in Linux you may find it more worth your while to attend a regular meeting then the BBQ. During regular meetings we cover specific topics or have free ranging discussions. My understanding is that the BBQ is more of a social event for the group.
