Playing with Cinnamon last night I'm going to take the dive and throw it on a RHEL7 VM and see if I like it better than Mate. If so, I'll swap over my desktop and see... Thanks for doing some great digging on the projector stuff.. It's only 2017... Projectors should just *work*. His talks are always quite informative and entertaining, and the response from the WLUG membership has been overwhelmingly positive. Hey Tim, We're good to go! I've reserved the conference room at the Hudon public library for the following times: Nov 18 @ 7:00PM - 8:30PM Dec 9 @ 7:00PM - 8:30PM I figured it'd be best to reserve the room for the December meeting just in case we decide to meet in-person again for the holidays. If we decide on a different venue, then I can free up that time slot. I have no idea how many people might come. Maybe 30? Is someone taking RSVPs? If your main goal is to advance your knowledge in Linux you may find it more worth your while to attend a regular meeting then the BBQ. During regular meetings we cover specific topics or have free ranging discussions. My understanding is that the BBQ is more of a social event for the group. The Linux PLIP software allows the user to connect two computers together via their printer ports. A network is run between the parallel interfaces. If you ever wanted to build a cheap, quick (as in rapid setup), and dirty point-to-point network that actually functions, this is it. Speaking of parallel port hacking, I want to do some parallel port line sniffing to determine exactly what command sequence the Windows driver sends to a particular printer. Has anyone done anything like this?
