WLUG Meeting tonight?

I am used to getting an email from Tim Keller when there is a WLUG meeting. I am also used to it being on the second Thursday of the month. One of those didn't happen. Two meetings ago I tried to do a presentation of LaTeX, but share-screen did not work like it did three meetings ago. One meeting ago, share screen worked, but everyone was talking about something else, and I wasn't really ready anyway. I hear you on the "no agenda" issue. I want to get back to having a defined topic and actually doing a presentation and then moving onto the general conversation. I think many people when they don't see we have a topic, decide not to come. I'm proposing for the next meeting that I do a talk on the useability of the pi5. I'm going to buy one as soon as it comes out and start mucking with it. I'm actually thinking what I might try to do is make it my daily driver at home and see how that goes. Musing about meetings...

Okay Gang, In the 10+ years that this group has been in existence many of us have gotten married, had a couple of kids, etc. This means that planning for a WLUG meeting needs to happen in a much more scheduled manner. Sending out a meeting reminder the day before a meeting just doesn't cut it anymore. I've spoken with Chuck and things are going to be changing. However, before we do anything, I think it makes sense to ask some questions. Does the first Wednesday of every month work for everybody? Would going back to the Wed/Thurs alternating schedule work better for people? What I'd like to implement is an automated meeting system that'll automatically send a reminder at the beginning of the month and then a subsequent reminder the day or two before. Where to hold meetings..

Hey Gang, It appears that WPI isn't going to work out for us as a stable place to hold meetings. I have two questions to ask the group. 1. Does the second Thursday still work for people or would a Wed/Fri work better? 2. How far would people be willing to drive? As for the second question, doing some research, Leominster public library has meeting rooms (I'm also a LPL member) and they're open till 9pm. Moreover, Leominster has great afforable places to eat. I believe it's likely too late for me to schedule a meeting at LPL, but I can always call and ask. So I suspect this months meeting (which is going to be this Thursday) will be virtual. Though I'll let people know asap. Let me know what you think, I'd really like some input. WLUG meeting Thu April 10 7PM
