Re: [Wlug] Are we having a meeting on the 10th?

by Henrique

Hey, I can reserve the room, and we do not have a topic; I also just emailed a guy from WWT <http://www.meetup.com/Worcester-Web-Technology/>if he is interested in making a git talk, but I think it would be too early notice. I will keep you guys updated. Cheers, Henrique. Announce: WLUG Meeting Wed 2/13 7PM More Raspberry Pi

by Chuck Anderson

Hi folks, The next Worcester Linux Users' Group (WLUG) meeting will be held at its regularly scheduled time: the 2nd Wednesday of the month, which is tomorrow, Wednesday, February 13, at 7PM. The location will be the WPI Campus Center, Mid-Centry Room 331, which should hopefully become our regular location. If people would like, I can bring my new Raspberry Pi to play with. I might even have a case for it by then. I have installed a distro called OpenELEC which is an XBMC port, but we can play with other distros as well, especially if people bring some spare SD cards they don't mind erasing. Wednesday, February 13, 7:00 - 10:00 PM WPI Campus Center, Mid-Centry Room 331 More Raspberry Pi Afterwards, we will go out for pizza and maybe raspberry pie. See you there, Chuck President, Worcester Linux Users' Group http://www.wlug.org/

Reminder: Upcoming PGP Key Signing Party

by Andy Stewart

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 HI Everybody, At our next WLUG meeting on Wednesday, May 16th, we will have a PGP Key Signing Party hosted by Chuck Anderson and Eric Martin. Eric has previously sent out instructions, so please be sure to follow them, and direct any questions to Eric or Chuck. I have posted those instructions on the WLUG home page (see description for May WLUG Meeting). I suggest a cutoff of noon on Wednesday, May 16th, for sending your information to Eric. This will give Eric time to collect the necessary information prior to the meeting. Dust off those passports - you'll need them! Re: [Wlug] Next Meeting August 13th!

I actually would be interested in hearing about that. The whole SDN buzzword gets thrown around a lot without any real explanation. Re: Great meeting last night! --- Sorry I couldn't stay

by Jon "maddog" Hall

Keith, >Does jitsi create rooms upon demand from anyone? Jitsi has two main methods of operation that I know of: o create an "on demand" room by generating a unique string that you can pass to the other people and everyone joins via that string o create a "moderated" room which has two URLs generated, one for the "users" and one for the "moderator". You get this type of room by clicking on "book a meeting URL" right under the normal window that says "start meeting" at the top of the Jitsi Meet page. With regards to the sound, I have a Thinkpad X1 and when I use the 3.5mm audio jack on the side I have not been able to get the microphone to work properly, so I use a USB sound card or USB headphones to hear and speak. This requires me to configure the sound options on the system. You can also select which speakers and microphones you want to use in the Jitsi application itself right before you "join the meeting". Just click on "settings". You may have to dicker with the volume a bit in your system settings. On the other hand my X1 now uses solid state storage and has a very soft fan (if it turns on at all) so sometimes I do not use any microphone or speakers other than those with the laptop. md On Fri, Apr 12, 2024 at 12:33 PM Keith Wright via WLUG <wlug(a)lists.wlug.org> wrote: > Kevin Stratton via WLUG <wlug(a)lists.wlug.org> writes: > > > I was able to connect using https://jitsi.uvhash.org/WlugMA%20uvhash.org, > but > > I was the only person (as a moderator) in the lobby at 7:20. Sorry to go off-topic for a minute, but I'm going to be moving in the near future, and have a lot of items which need a new home. With the upcoming WLUG meeting (which I'm planning to attend), it seemed like a good time to post the list. :) If you're interested in any of the items, I'll be happy to bring them out to Worcester on Wednesday, and you can get them after the meeting.
