I actually would be interested in hearing about that. The whole SDN buzzword gets thrown around a lot without any real explanation. Jitsi has two main methods of operation that I know of: o create an "on demand" room by generating a unique string that you can pass to the other people and everyone joins via that string o create a "moderated" room which has two URLs generated, one for the "users" and one for the "moderator". You get this type of room by clicking on "book a meeting URL" right under the normal window that says "start meeting" at the top of the Jitsi Meet page. With regards to the sound, I have a Thinkpad X1 and when I use the 3.5mm audio jack on the side I have not been able to get the microphone to work properly, so I use a USB sound card or USB headphones to hear and speak. This requires me to configure the sound options on the system. You can also select which speakers and microphones you want to use in the Jitsi application itself right before you "join the meeting". Just click on "settings". You may have to dicker with the volume a bit in your system settings. WLUG Notes From Last Nights STEM Meeting

Eric and all, Here are my notes from the STEM discussions. Snap Circuits - a lego type electronics education kit. I recommend the 300 or 500 size kits. At 8 my son can solo follow plans and build a FM radio receiver that works. Lightbot - program logic thinking for young kids. Scratch - visual object programming via flash website. . . . . . . code.org - sample scratch programs Alice 3 - app is not very stable. . . . . . . - more powerful and complex items Squeak - What-if. Xkcd.com Theoatmeal.com Rasberry pi robot Tim included some ther non kid / STEM discussion about the systems tools with Hadoop for rapid system building & clustering. Since the meeting I found two more I plan to try with my 8 year old. . Dragonbox Algebra - unique app for learning Math. & Algebra. . IOS & Android. MIT App Inventor - web app development which will also work on phones & tablets. Hope this helps, Joel

Date & Time: Feb. 11th 2016 @ 7pm Location: Atwater-Kent Room 232 Topic: ELK Presenter: Tim Keller ELK is an acronym that stands for "Elastisearch Logstash Kibana". It's platform that lets you gather data, search it and then create dashboards to display it. A good example might be having a single place that you can graph out the trends of disk usage across all the machines in your data center. I'm going to talk about setting up an elastic node, deploying logstasher and creating dashboards using kibana (and possibly grafana) Refreshments and snacks will be supplied and we'll have pizza at Tech afterwards to continue the conversation.
