HI Everybody, Our next WLUG meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 17th at 7:00 PM in the Access Grid room at the WPI campus in Worcester, MA USA. Let's hope it doesn't snow this time....... :-) Our guest speaker will be Scott Venier, a long time WLUG member, who will be discussing Vesta, a software configuration management system. Vesta is a portable SCM system targeted at supporting development of software systems of almost any size, from fairly small (under 10,000 source lines) to very large (10,000,000 source lines). It is both a revision control system and a build system. Vesta provides full automatic dependency detection and guarantees exact repeatability of any build. See ya there! Reminder: WLUG Meeting THIS Thursday (2/21/2017): Topic: AWX

Hey Everybody, We've got a meeting on Wednesday Location: Fuller Labs, Beckett Conference Room, RM 246 Time: 7PM Topic: AWX and Ansible. AWX is the open source upstream version of Ansible Tower. This is a system that automates the running of ansible playbooks on hosts. What's ansible? Ansible is a management and configuration system for installing / modifying and maintaining linux/unix machines. What's cooler is that AWX can natively use git to manage configs. I'll talk about ansible, playbooks and then AWX. As usual, snacks and refreshments will be provided and we'll head off for dinner afterwards to continue to conversation. One of my favorite anecdotes is from one of our installfests at Stratus where Doug Wade tripped over the power cord *just* as the install had finished, but before the MBR/LILO could be written to the disk. It was cool to see a bunch of linux hackers stand around and get Mandrake to properly boot on this persons machine. Good times. Tim. Hey Everybody, Dmitri Pal, the director of engineering at Red Hat has graciously offered to speak about Kerberos, FreeIPA, SSSD and I'm sure a whole host of other things! Here are the vitals! I'd like to brain storm about topics we'd like to talk about next year! Ideas that have been talked about: 1. Pi-hole. What it is, how it works and why you want one! 2. Raspberry Pi clusters.. How to build one and what would you do with one? 3. Ham radio and Linux. I'll have snacks and refreshments on hand, we'll head off to dinner afterwards!
