Hey Everybody, We've got a meeting tomorrow! Time: 7pm Date: September 12th, 2024 Physical Location: 44 Portland St, Worcester MA Topic(s): Last month we dove into the history of Linux distros. I thought this month we might talk a bit more about some more practical linux desktop stuff. How to install software, window managers, etc. Then I thought we might dive into filesystems with a foray into LVM. Afterwards we'll head out for dinner and keep up the conversation! I thought I'd give a quick demo of ZFS, what it is and how I'm using it in an enterprise environment. I'll create some filesystems, do some hacky stuff with them, etc.. Next month meeting date, some input needed.

Next Month on the 2nd and 3rd Thursdays I have conflicts. So.. the next possible Thursday would be the 22nd.. Another option is that we shift the meeting to Wednesday for this month on the 14th? I know that isn't an "Free Hack" day at Technocopia, but I think we can work something out. What would people like to do? John texted me this morning that there's a nor'easter on the way. The weather people, who are using Linux to run the large models are predicting heavy rain and winds, localized flooding, etc. I care more about the members of this group than keeping to a schedule. Hey Gang! I've got a conflict on the 11th, so I'm moving the meeting to the 18th. My plan is to talk about Tailscale / headscale and nebula to build secure networks that don't require punching holes in firewalls, etc. Let me know if you know of similar tech and I'll try to talk about that as well.
