Tim Selfishly Leominster is closer for us. We can make any evening, whatever works for others works for us. I have access to a conference room at Deven’s MA to host meetings if that is of interest. Hey Gang, It appears that WPI isn't going to work out for us as a stable place to hold meetings. I have two questions to ask the group. 1. Does the second Thursday still work for people or would a Wed/Fri work better? 2. How far would people be willing to drive? As for the second question, doing some research, Leominster public library has meeting rooms (I'm also a LPL member) and they're open till 9pm. Moreover, Leominster has great afforable places to eat. I believe it's likely too late for me to schedule a meeting at LPL, but I can always call and ask. So I suspect this months meeting (which is going to be this Thursday) will be virtual. Though I'll let people know asap. Let me know what you think, I'd really like some input. Tomorrow's meeting is going to be Virtual

Hey Everybody, Last week it was the career fair, this week the trustees have reserved everything.. However, the weather looks like it's going to be a mess. Our meeting for Feb. is going to be virtual. I'd rather keep everybody safe they try to find someplace we can all fit. We'll be at our usual virtual haunt: https://meet.jit.si/WlugMA starting at 7PM. The plan is to talk about containerized distributions, though knowing how our virtual meetings go it'll be a hilarious raucous affair. REMINDER: Upcoming WLUG meeting

Hi everybody, This is a friendly reminder about the upcoming WLUG meeting to be held on Wednesday, March 13th at 7 PM. Please note: the meeting room is DIFFERENT this month. We will be located in Perreault Hall in Fuller Labs (the same place as the January meeting). Directions can be found on the WLUG website. There is an opening for a speaker at this meeting, so if you have something you'd like to present to the group, bring it along and I'll turn over the floor to you. I received a couple of raffle items from the folks at http://theKompany.com. I will have available a copy of Quanta Gold as well as a copy of Power Plant. You can read more about these software packages at theKompany's website. I was told by a company representative that if we wanted to arrange a group purchase of software that we would receive a discount. Please contact me directly if this is of interest to you. Recent and Upcoming WLUG meetings

Hi everybody, Please note that I just rescheduled a bunch of the meetings for calendar year 2004. Please check the WLUG website for more information. Please accept my apologies for scheduling two Wednesday meetings for consecutive months. I am scheduling around my commitment to teach a Linux course for the Adult Education program in Chelmsford, MA. A note about the December 2003 meeting: This meeting was well attended, with at least 30 people present to watch the "Revolution OS" DVD. Many thanks for your generous donations to help defray the cost of the raffle items (we broke even *and* set a WLUG record of $58.50!), and to Chuck Anderson for his help with the projection system. It was nice to see some faces of people who occasionally attend meetings in addition to the "regulars" and a few newbies. With regard to the January 2004 meeting, there was an interesting discussion on the WLUG mailing list recently about digital signatures and e-mail. I would like to know if there are any volunteers who would like to do a presentation on this topic. If so, please send me an e-mail. Here are some ideas which came to mind: - how to create your own digital signature (and why) - how to get your friend's digital signature and be sure it is authentic - how to configure (pick a mail client) for use with digital signatures - verifying a digitally signed e-mail - other related ideas? Re: [Wlug] LTSP meeting slides

Andy, thank you for the excellent talk and demo. The tools available to the linux community are top notch. The LTSP project is a prime example of that fact. I would like to suggest a talk on the OpenVPN project for the next meeting. I think it would be really cool if WLUG could sponser a project this winter that involved setting up a network w/ VPN, securing it and then attempting to hack it to find its vulnerabilities. This is probably a naive idea for many reasons...but I think many of us would be interested in learning the proper way of installing, securing, and maintaining our networks. Trolling for topics for the June meeting

HI everybody, The summer months always make it tough to draw people to a WLUG meeting, and announcing a meeting without sufficient notice makes it worse. Thus, I'll start the monthly troll for topics now in the hope that we can nail down this month's topic and advertise the meeting so that we'll have a pretty good turnout. If you have topics on which you would like to address WLUG, please let me know. FYI: I'm fabricating the schedule for upcoming meetings. It should be posted shortly. He's going to be showing off it's many amazing features! We'll be meeting at the Hudson Public Library in our usual space.
