Cryptoparty in Worcester on Sun. Mar 22
Hello Worcester Linux Users Group! My name is Steve and I'm a Linux user who lives in the Boston Area. I'm helping to organize a Cryptoparty at the Worcester Public Library, and I wanted to extend an invitation to WLUG members. The cryptoparty is this Sunday 3/22 from 2pm - 4pm, and we plan to cover Jitsi and GnuPG. The WPL is located at 3 Salem Street, Worcester, and we'll be meeting in the Banx room. Hope to see you Sunday. Steve
Excellent! :) Thanks for putting this together. I'm not sure I'll make it but my key is collecting tons of dust. http://pgp.mit.edu/pks/lookup?op=get&search=0x180B8BAF13B27893 On Tue, Mar 17, 2015 at 9:00 PM, Steve Revilak <steve@srevilak.net> wrote:

Time, place, invitation, check checkcheck. You forgot to tell us What T... is a cryproparty? Is it a keysigning? "plan to cover" makes it sound like a lecture. Installfest? "Party" makes it sound purely social. Drink wine and solve cryptograms? -- Keith
It's a party where people allude to events very cryptically. On Wed, Mar 18, 2015 at 2:34 PM, Keith Wright <kwright@keithdiane.us> wrote:

That's a very good question; sorry for not explaining earlier. A cryptoparty <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryptoparty> is an event where people get together to learn about encryption and communications privacy.
Is it a keysigning?
"plan to cover" makes it sound like a lecture.
Installfest?
There's a bit of a lecture component, but I usually think of cryptoparties as workshops. I find they work best when people bring laptops, to set up and try the software (GnuPG and Jitsi in this case). In that sense, they're a little like installfests (e.g., the "help you install and set up" part). That said, laptops aren't a requirement; it's okay to hang out, listen and watch. Since GnuPG is one of the topics, there will probably be some keysigning involved.

Perhaps after the cryptoparty :) Steve
