HI gang, I have been asked to be the guest speaker at the Delphi Developers Group meeting in Newton, MA on Monday, April 23rd (http://www.discom.com/delphi). They are interested in Linux due to the recent product announcement of Borland Kylix (http://www.borland.com/kylix). These folks are a group of software developers living in the Windows world. I had planned to prepare a 45 - 60 minute talk, Q/A, and then demonstrate some apps for them, such as: StarOffice Netscape Developer tools and utilities VmWare LILO Desktops - KDE, Gnome, enlightenment, etc. Installation of Linux The above list was suggested to me by their representative as a list of things that would be interesting to their developers group. I am seeking 2 or 3 people would like to volunteer to demo some of these tools at the meeting, and who can provide support for the questions which I can't answer. I'm looking for folks with systems or laptops that they are willing to bring to this meeting for the demos. I would also appreciate a volunteer or two who would be willing to critique my presentation slides before the meeting. You would not need to actually attend the meeting. I'd e-mail the slides to you and request your written feedback. The Delphi group representative will also get a sneak preview. If you are interested in either of these opportunities, please contact me this week if at all possible. Thanks in advance! Hi all, WOW! The response has been great! Here's what I've got for volunteers so far: Critique the slides ------------------- Scott Venier Dean Deaver Doug Waud Tom Manders Conduct Demos ------------- Tim Keller Doug Waud Mark Komarinski I was hoping we could get 1 or 2 more people to do demos. I suspect that 4 people is enough to sufficiently critique the slides. The Delphi Developers group meeting takes place at: Allaire Corporation 275 Grove Street Newton, MA Check out their website for directions: http://www.discom.com/delphi/meeting/MeetingDirections.html The meeting is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM so we should probably get there early enough to setup, say 6:30 PM on Monday, April 23rd. I'd expect the traffic in this area to be pretty heavy at that time of day due to rush hour. I will find out more of the logistical information, such as, how much table space do we have, how many outlets, etc. Also, would somebody be kind enough to allow me to use their laptop for the presentation since I don't own a laptop? I'll export the presentation to HTML if necessary, or if you have StarOffice already installed, I'll use that. (Maybe its time I bought one instead of lugging around my full tower...). Later, and thanks! Hi
Also, would somebody be kind enough to allow me to use their laptop for the presentation since I don't own a laptop?
You can certainly use mine --- provided I don't trash it in the interim :-) / :-( Seriously, it has StarOffice 5.2 on it already. You could either put your stuff on a CD which you could bring with you and/or send it to me ahead of time and I could download it onto the computer. doug
