Toshiba e330 + Linux
I've had a Toshiba e330 for about 3 months now, however it runs windows and I can't interface it with my linux machine. I was curious if anyone had any information regarding putting linux on one of these babies. I plan to get a wireless card and GPS adaptor for it soon, so how would that affect it. Any help would be much appreciated. Hi Chuck, Although I didn't see your specific model, you might try this website for more information: http://www.linux-laptop.net/ Later, Andy -- Andy Stewart, Founder Worcester Linux Users' Group Worcester, MA USA http://www.wlug.org
Hrm, perhaps I forgot to mention that it is a PDA, not a laptop. Chuck On Sun, 2003-04-27 at 19:32, Andy Stewart wrote:

Gee, maybe that's why its not on the laptop page...Doh! Sorry, I guess I've been smoking someting...wanna share ?! :-) -- Andy Stewart, Founder Worcester Linux Users' Group Worcester, MA USA http://www.wlug.org
The e330 uses the Intel ARM Xscale processor. This cpu is supported by the arm linux people. However, getting Linux loaded on this platform may be pretty hard. Would involve cross compiling a kernel, setting up a file system, and getting the thing to boot. Depends if Toshiba supports it. I believe Compaq semi supports the pocket PC Linux, but i have no personal experience with it. I would recommend against it, unless you really know what your doing, or want to do some hacking and you don't mind trashing your e330's existing filesystem. If your interested, i would google for "arm linux xscale" and start at the ARM linux page: http://www.arm.linux.org.uk/ On 27 Apr 2003, Chuck Haines wrote:
