Hey Everybody, We've got a meeting on Thursday August 11th 2022 Topic: Infrastructure as Code website with free hosting. Physical Location: Possibly the Mid-Century Room at WPI! Virtual Location: https://meet.jit.si/WlugMA Speaker: Althea Shaheen The days of websites simply being static pages of HTML are behind us. As the web changes and the technologies underpinning complex websites grow and evolve, managing all this by hand becomes nearly impossible. Load balancers, database servers.. Now what if this website also needs to be scaled across cloud providers and on prem? What happens when your favorite cloud company whose data center is just a bunch of shipping containers burns to the ground? How easily could you reconstitute your website and all the underpinnings? Althea is going to speak to how they deploy their website and manages the entire process as code. I'd like to thank Chuck for facilitating getting Althea in contact with us. Mailing list members are moderated until they post for the first time since we introduced moderation a few years ago unless I recognized them at the time. This was done to reduce drive-by-spammers. I'm the only moderator.
