Problem with xosview SWAP space.

I have been running Fedora Core 4 for at least a year. It has the problem of slow consumption of swap space - see graphic. After a week or two it runs out and LINUX crashes.
I have found no help in GOOGLE which surprises me. Did I install incorrectly? What do you all think?
I would guess you have a memory leak in an application, kernel, or kernel driver module. Should be able to see what the cause is. send us more info on your system do these commands and paste us the results: ps auxw lspci uname -a lsmod vmstat dmesg

The graphic didn't come through here. I bet you're using a binary-blob kernel module (e.g. Nvidia) which is making your system crash. The other possibility is you have an app with a memory leak, using 'ps avx' would help diagnose that. --Andre __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Hi All, Quick question: Is buying a USB flash drive device for Linux something that needs a bit of research? Or, by and large, will any old device work? I've got Suse Linux 9.3 installed on an HP Omnibook 6100. Thanks, Doug

Just about any off-the-shelf "flash stick" or USB-connected hard drive enclosure will all use the kernel's usb-storage and SD drivers. Lots of cameras, too. Brian J. Conway bconway(at)alum.wpi.edu "LINUX is obsolete" - Andrew S. Tanenbaum, creator of Minix - Jan 29, 1992
almost any of them should work.. usbstorage module douglas.r.aker@verizon.com wrote:

I always check here for starters: http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/ I had a USB flash device that didn't work, but that was a while ago. I returned it and got one that was mentioned on the website (above) and have had no problems since. I'd recommend some care with cameras. My Logitech camera uses the pwc driver which has minor issues with Linux. Maybe the USB 2.0 devices fare better.
