It's really up to the person doing the signing. :) In general, you want to have as many strong forms of ID as possible. passport > driver's license > student id, etc. Multiple IDs are good, I don't think I've had need to go beyond 3 before. I've put together a web page describing the procedure for Pre-Registering for the Keysigning to be held at our next WLUG meeting. This is also linked from the WLUG front page: http://www.wlug.org/keysigning/ If you wish to participate, please check it over as there are a few steps you need to perform before arriving at the meeting. Thanks, Chuck
Last call on Pre-Registration. At 3:30pm I'll generate the final list of pre-registered fingerprints. On Thu, Apr 16, 2009 at 11:59:39PM -0400, Chuck Anderson wrote:

I work until 8pm, about 20 minutes away. How late will this be running if I wanted to stop by? Is pre-registration required, or just optional? Would it be okay to show up late? -- Aaron Haviland cell: [508] 344 - 8380 home: [508] 943 - 7974
If you didn't get an email directly from me to you (i.e. not via the wlug email list), then you have missed pre-registration deadline. I generated the final list of keys at about 4:30pm today. Even so, you can certainly still participate--you'll just need to print your key's fingerprint 10-20 times for distribution to others, as it says here under "Right Before the WLUG meeting": http://www.wlug.org/keysigning/ We usually end the meeting by 8:30-9pm, depending on how long things take. HI Chuck, I'd like to understand why my email message to wlug-keys didn't make it when I sent it a few days ago. Did anybody else run into this, or is this a case of PEBKAC? Does the /bin/mail on the system where you ran the "gpg" command do the right thing with email sent from there? If it isn't configured correctly for remote mail delivery (e.g. smart relay host in /etc/mail/sendmail.cf) then you might try copy/paste of the command's output to your regular email client program.

Hi all, The problem was indeed on my side. I never use the "mail" command at the prompt, thus, it was not configured to send email. I saw two bounced emails once I got home from the WLUG meeting. Thanks, Chuck, for offering some ideas to help debug this problem. I hope everybody enjoyed the meeting this evening. Many thanks once again to Chuck and Eric for running this meeting! Don't forget, next month, we will have a speaker addressing us about the Open Street Map project. HI guys, I was expecting to see my name in the wlug-keysigning-fingerprints.txt since I had (I thought) followed the instructions several days ago. Alas, my name/info is not present in the file. :-( I'll follow the rest of the instructions, and I'll see you at the meeting.
