The Senior Operations Engineer will be responsible for day-to-day monitoring, troubleshooting and maintaining our highly available, 24x7 (99.999%) hosting infrastructure for our Third Screen Media group in Boston, MA. The position will be responsible for the design and build out of performance enhancements, security, and capacity expansion. This individual will be committed, well organized, attentive to detail and an exceptional communicator: This position will interface not only with development, but with program management, documentation and release engineering. Technology curious. * High work ethic and driven to ensure maximum uptime and performance. * Works well with other departments including engineering , client services and program management. * Knowledge and operational experience with a Unix based, enterprise-class multi-tenant hosted solution.. * Monitor the health, capacity and performance of a high availability, high traffic environment - ensuring the environment is operating optimally and at peak efficiency. * Vigilantly and quickly act as second level support and manage incidents until resolved; develop solutions, proactively communicate with other team members and customers. * Contribute to planning efforts for disaster recovery, capacity expansion, component upgrading and system hardening * Work with Program Management and Engineering to determine QA paths for upcoming releases. * Coordinate the production releases between the various organizations for scheduling and deployment. * Capable of defining and running projects from concept to delivery. * Learn fast, work independently, and handle multiple simultaneous projects. * Provide support documentation, including procedural documentation; QUALIFICATIONS * 5-7 years of experience in working in multi tenant hosted environment * Working knowledge of Linux, SAN, servers/databases, WAN, firewalls, load balancers and SQL architecture. * Excellent writing and verbal communications skills. * Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills with the ability to discuss technical issues with non-technical colleagues. * Effective when working under pressure and delivering to high standards within tight deadlines. * Experience with J2EE systems * Comfort with Windows XP, Macintosh and UNIX environments * Previous experience working in a fast-paced start-up environment * In depth understanding of enterprise and/or ASP systems and how to evaluate performance and stability across these systems. * Detailed knowledge of real-time systems, databases and performance. * Strong background in supporting a 7X24 production environment.
