Hey Everybody! WLUG Meeting this week!
Hey Everybody! We've got a WLUG meeting on the 8th! I know weirdly early in the month because the 1st landed on a Thursday! If things go well, I *might* have a Pi cluster using compute cards in it! I'll keep you all posted! As for the meeting details: Time: 7pm Date: 2/8/2024 Location: Techncopia Thanks, Tim. -- I am leery of the allegiances of any politician who refers to their constituents as "consumers".

That would be awesome to see. I've finally got ProxMox 8.1.3 up and running at work. It's an interesting beast with some funky limitations. And alot of flexibility. But the setup can be tough if you have VLANs on your trunks/bonds feeding the servers. Lots of by hand networking setup.
Currently we're having issues getting the Turing Pi 2 to boot, so doing a show off of Proxmox I could definitely do as well. I've got a three node setup as well as a backup node running at work, but I don't have anything on it that I couldn't show the world. Tim. I'ev got proxmox running at owkr with some basic VMs on it for testing. I might be able to show it off doing some basic stuff like live migrations.

Mine is strictly testing without anything it use that anyone could care about. I haven't spent that much time playing with it.

I recently switched my home server to proxmox, and I've been spending time using terraform and packer to build and deploy VMs. I'd be happy to share code if anyone is interested.

Are you running a cluster or just one system? I've got a three node cluster at $WORK, but thinking of looking at their SCALE product. But of course while VMware is going to shaft us pricewise, the manglement might not want to leave the devil they know. Another issue is deploying OVA files. I find that ProxMOX is a pain in terms of .iso and .ova files, you need to first add them into it's own repository, then you can deploy from them. VMware just lets you browse for the files and deploy. Though I also admit that .ova deployments can be annoyingly tough, but I'm running VCenter 7.0.x and a mix of ESXi 6.7 and 7.0 on my systems. Legacy hardware which I can't move up. Another reason to hate vendor designed stuff, it locks you in.
I'd be happy to share code if anyone is interested.
Please do!

Just a single system at the moment. Another issue is deploying OVA files. I find that ProxMOX is a pain

Yeah, that makes sense. The interface isn't especially user friendly either. It takes me a while to remember where the interface for uploading ISO files is whenever I need to use it. That's one thing that Scale Computing does well. The interface for uploading images is pretty straightforward, and it will convert images from various formats for you automatically. Other than the current lack of support for compressed images.

This is very much a work in progress as I work on learning the tools. https://gitlab.com/techstoa/proxmox -- Greg
