HI Everybody, Are there any GnomeMeeting users out there ? I just bought a webcam and would like to try this out. If somebody wants to do an experiment, let me know! I'd like to test both video and audio as well as the text chat capability. Andy -- Andy Stewart, Founder Worcester Linux Users' Group Worcester, MA USA http://www.wlug.org

Does anybody out there have a webcam? For what do you use it ? -- Andy Stewart, Founder Worcester Linux Users' Group Worcester, MA USA http://www.wlug.org

I'd tell ya, but then I'd have to kill ya. Or rather, you'd probably kill yourself! :) Actually I do have a Creative webcam, but only used it briefly. I played around with the "motion" package to do frame grabs when motion was detected. It was fun getting caps of people stealing our partition walls and security guards rummaging through our stuff at my old job. I've futzed with it for other things, but having ONE isn't all that much fun. I'm considering bolting it down pointing out my office window and doing a time-lapse sequence of "weather in MA" shots. That, or capturing squirrels at play in the yard. I personally don't find it that useful as a productivity tool. I don't see much value in looking at a poor image of somebody I'm talking to. I'd rather be busy doing other stuff (surfing web etc.) while talking to folks. - Bob
