I went to microcenter on the 23rd of October and they said sorry and said the 3rd of November, and today before I even left the house they say "sold out." I can only speculate on how before they were even on the shelves they were sold out.. but there we are.. With that said, the orange pi 5 keeps looking even more interesting, though it completely blows the price point out of the water at $100.. Tim. -- I am leery of the allegiances of any politician who refers to their constituents as "consumers".
I keep hearing less than stellar reviews for the Pi5 so not that interested myself. I keep hearing a lot about the Zima SBCs, both tue ZimaBoard and the ZimaBlade. And I hear they are kickstarting a ZimaCube which will be a NAS box. interesting for sure. On Fri, Nov 3, 2023, 2:04 PM Tim Keller via WLUG <wlug@lists.wlug.org> wrote:

So this ZimaBoard is just an Intel Celeron, and looking at their site (https://zimaboard.com/) it's not always easy to get specs or info. Not that impressed so far. Now the ZimaBlade is a little more interesting, though you have to buy your own RAM, but maybe building a small CEPH cluster would be possible with this? Probably needs more than just 1 x 1gb ethernet though, since you'd like to keep the cluster traffic isolated. I've got the OrangePi 3 LTS, which has been working fine for me, though I admit I don't do much with it. And the one I have setup remotely seems to flake out on reboots at times and not come back up cleanly, which is annoying since it's a 30 minute drive to fix it. Sigh...
