I now have a need to setup a vpn to my office network and I have just enough admin skills to be dangerous. I am running opensuse 10.2. Am I better off installing openswan (or some other vpn solution) or purchasing an appliance with a vpn built into it. My main concerns are ease of use and security. I am currently using a linksys router as my firewall and gateway to the internet. Each of my computers inside the network also have there own firewalls. Thanks, Mike
OpenVPN is easy to setup in comparison with IPSec (openswan) http://openvpn.net/howto.html Michael Long wrote:

IPSec is also a pain when dealing with NAT devices, so I would second the recommendation for OpenVPN over openswan.

Thanks for the input. It sounds like openvpn is the better way to go.
