I just got a nice new Inspiron 9100 for work (a huge beast I might add) and I just installed Fedora Core 2 on it. I'm curious if anyone has any links or experience in how to make it so I can hot swap the drives (dvd burner, cd-rom, floppy, extra battery) without having to reboot. I've done some googling searching but haven't really found anything yet. If you could reply back to hainesca@nv.doe.gov (my work email), I'd be much appreciative. I'm sure various distributions have scripts setup to do that with the hotplug package, but what I've always done is compile those pieces as modules, and load and unload them before swapping hardware (no modules for the battery, the BIOS picks those up fine).
