I have a hinted that a memory stick would be a nice stocking stuffer this year. Any recommendations for a 1 GB stick for use (mostly) on linux? Can I format a FAT partition for Windows use, too? Thanks, Bill

sure, just grab the dosfstools package and you can format good old dos partitions or every version of fat if your distro doesnt supply it, you can find it here: ftp://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/Linux/LOCAL/dosfstools/ -mike

I have a 1G "SanDisk" and "Apacer" brands and have had no problems with them. The SanDisk came with NTFS preformated, i just formated back to FAT32 to use with both linux and windows. --- Karl Hiramoto <karl@hiramoto.org> http://karl.hiramoto.org/ Yahoo_IM = karl_hiramoto GTalk=karl.hiramoto@gmail.com ------ - BOFH Excuse #286: Telecommunications is downgrading.
