I was wondering if anyone knew of any exchange clients for linux besides the plugin for evolution. WPI is now offering a student exchange server and I am testing it for the admin's. However I currently have to use the outlook web client to view my mail (which of course doesn't look right in galeon, since M$ designed the outlook web). So any comments, flames, or suggestions are welcome. Thanks, Chuck Haines WPILA Lab Manager

Well, the Exchange server supports IMAP v4, so any IMAP v4 client should be able to at least read mail, I would think. For me, Gnus works quite well with an Exchange server :) I can't recommend Gnus unless you're well versed in Emacs though. If you are, try it out... -- Josh Huber

For example, my last employer used Exchange for scheduling, email, and something very much like newsgroups (i forget what it's called, and it being a function of Exchange means that i really couldn't care less what its name really is anyway)... they allowed POP3 mail, so i used Sylpheed with that (Sylpheed, BTW, is also capable of IMAP. if you're interested, you can find it on Freshmeat.) Mail is all well and good, but i didn't have access to the other funtions that my employer used Exchange for, so i had to bite the bullet and do the occasional check via WinDOZE to make sure i didn't miss anything. <shrug> if memory serves, there is a project along the same line in the works under GNOME (not related to the Ximian stuff), but last time i checked, their efforts were exclusive of the Exchange stuff. 8( -- William Smith wsmith@chezsmith.com Fall River, MA http://www.chezsmith.com
Hi, The people of korganizer are working a plugin to allow interaction with an exchange server for it's calender functionality. I believe it will be added in kde3.1. as already mentioned IMAP compliant mail readers will work with mail. I use kmail, evolution, and mutt with the exchange server at my work place. (i believe mutt needed to be recompiled to allow for imap support though) --brad On Mon, Aug 26, 2002 at 11:48:21PM -0400, Haines, Charles Allen wrote:
