HI everybody, I am wondering what we should discuss at our next meeting - any ideas? I have been playing with diskless clients lately. There are a couple of ways to do this: a) load and run a Knoppix CD with no hard drive b) LTSP - Linux Terminal Server Project If people are interested, I could give a talk / demo of some basic LTSP stuff. I've got it working between a lame P90 and my laptop server. Let me know if you have other ideas, or if this idea sounds like something interesting to you. I like the LTSP topic... Perhaps we could also put on a tutorial for putting together an email server, discussing spam, et al.? Amother thought might be to cover the basics for security (not another implementation discussion, but the major categories of exploits and how they work, hence how to think about protecting your linux box against them)... // end random thoughts Steve Andy Stewart wrote:

When you say LTSP - Linux Terminal Server Project, do you mean using an emulator or Wyse terminal? If that is the case, can I offer to bring a Equinox 16 port serial board? I do like the idea of mail server too, I run qmail and would like some ideas on SPAM blocking. At 08:52 PM 7/31/2003 -0400, you wrote:

My reference to LTSP was intended to convey the idea of a diskless client (in this case a lowly Pentium 90 with 40 MB of memory and working video and network) getting its boot image over the network but running all of its apps off of a server.
